Technical Support Analyst II

Circonus is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to join our customer support team as a Technical Support Analyst. In this role, you’ll provide technical support to customers dealing with complex issues surrounding the use of Circonus. In particular, we’re seeking someone to provide our customers with an exceptionally positive support experience – every time. A deep desire to provide excellent customer service coupled with a strong (and broad) technical background is critical.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the home office in Fulton, Maryland or remotely (US only)
  • Troubleshoot customer support requests (telephone, web, email), and deliver solutions
  • Provide on-call support for system outages
  • Escalate and track issues to Tier 3 support
  • Interface with engineering to develop and test solutions, incorporate field patches into codebase, and test and install new features
  • Create and maintain system documentation and end user training materials
  • Assist product management in developing and prioritizing enhancement lists
  • Summarize, communicate and escalate customer experiences to management
  • Actively contribute to community forums

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • 3-5 years in a Technical Support role within the SaaS space
  • 3-5 years advanced Linux server administration skills, including including shell/scripting
  • Knowledge of computer networking and networking administration
  • Fluency producing documentation targeted at developers or operations teams
  • Organized, self-starter with an ability to follow through on issues under minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly shift contexts
  • Prior experience working with software in development or test environments
  • Experience working with project management software such as JIRA
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Have

  • Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field
  • Experience with HTML and/or Git/GitHub
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure and services such as AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Experience and/or technical knowledge of monitoring and analytics solutions
  • Experience in the B2B tech space or with subscription based software preferred
  • C, Java, JavaScript, or Perl experience

UI/UX Engineer

Our UI/UX Engineers are responsible for developing high performance, responsive user interfaces for Circonus. The clean, intuitive, and beautiful user interfaces you build will play a critical role in the Circonus user experience -- allowing users to navigate through data and visually manipulate massive data sets to gain new insights.

You’ll develop core front-end components of a fast, scalable, complex web application (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, jQuery, and Vue.js) using your expert level knowledge of JavaScript. The sleek, beautiful results of your work make you an integral part of our team as you define, design, and develop new features, while improving existing ones.

In particular, we’re seeking someone to help lead an effort to rewrite a legacy jQuery-based application with Vue.js. Prior experience with such a rewrite is strongly preferred - please mention it directly within your cover letter.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the office or remotely, or both (but not at the same time)
  • Work with cross-functional development teams to design and improve our products
  • Design, build, maintain, and deploy scalable, standards driven web applications with HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Support our shift from jQuery to Vue.js
  • Experiment with new ways of visualizing large amounts of time-series data
  • Enhance and fix UI/UX issues with the Circonus UI and other open source UI components as required
  • Embrace emerging standards while promoting best practices
  • Implement, maintain and support software integrations with Circonus
  • Provide solutions to technical problems of varying scope and complexity
  • Collaborate with management in determining priorities and risks associated with projects
  • Ensure all relevant processes, procedures and product documentation is up to date
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience architecting, designing, and developing user-interfaces in a commercial software environment
  • Experience re-architecting and/or re-implementing UIs for a legacy enterprise web application
  • Significant experience designing, implementing, and modifying responsive web applications with jQuery and Vue.js
  • Experience using and/or building component libraries with jQuery, Vue.js, BootstrapUI or Highcharts
  • Fluency with HTML5, CSS, Javascript and Canvas
  • Comfortable quickly developing prototype and/or throwaway code to prove out new/cutting edge integrations or Circonus functions and features
  • Comfortable working with git and GitHub for version control, including opening/reviewing pull requests, branches, etc
  • Ability to take on and complete tasks in unfamiliar IT environments
  • Significant experience planning, prioritizing, and organizing
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Comfortable working in fast paced environments with a goal-oriented mentality
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years experience working within a SaaS environment
  • Experience with Sass/Scss and Bootstrap
  • Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3 and Flot
  • Knowledge and experience with component based design, style guides, style tiles
  • Experience working with project management software such as JIRA
  • Experience with wireframe tools such as Balsamiq, Sketch, or Adobe XD

Go Senior Software Engineer

Our Senior Software Engineers focus on the design, development and overall lifecycle of our software products. You’ll join a team of high-performing engineers who strive to improve Circonus’ monitoring and analytics platform. As a senior staff member you’ll be expected to operate independently, though your day-to-day will often involve working with a small team to create, support, and deploy production applications.
In particular, we’re seeking someone to help lead an effort to rewrite an existing monolithic web application towards a Go microservices architecture. Prior experience with such a rewrite is strongly preferred - please mention it directly within your cover letter or resume.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the office or remotely, or both (but not at the same time)
  • Design, build, maintain, and document our APIs and services
  • Support our internal shift from a monolithic architecture over to a micro-service oriented model
  • Design and implement software in Go, Perl, C or whatever language is appropriate for the task
  • Complete unit, functional, and performance testing of produced deliverables
  • Work alongside the Product team to ensure high quality deliverables
  • Conduct peer reviews during design, coding and testing
  • Coach and mentor team members

Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience building, testing, and deploying high quality, highly reliable, scalable application servers and APIs in a team environment
  •  Strong experience in server-side development with Go and commonly used libraries; this is mandatory, please do not apply if you don't have real world Go experience
  • Passion for quality-oriented, software development best practices including unit and functional testing, automation, continuous integration, and low-dependency architectures
  •  Comfortable working with git and GitHub for version control, including opening/reviewing pull requests and distributed branching models
  • Experience working with project management software such as JIRA
  •  Excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in Perl; our existing web application is wholly in Perl
  • Experience with Linux server administration
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience re-architecting and/or re-implementing a legacy enterprise application
  • Experience and/or senior level technical knowledge of monitoring and analytics solutions
  • Experience working with cloud service providers such as AWS and Azure; it’s helpful to have worked directly on software that relied on these public cloud providers to have a good assessment of monitoring requirements in these environments
