About the role:

As the lead Security Technical Program Manager in the Trust & Security organization you will play a critical role in fulfilling the vision to secure Confluent’s platform and cloud offerings through a combination of technical expertise, security experience, and excellent program management skills. You should be comfortable and experienced in driving and delivering highly complex projects on time, running significant security programs that span the entire company, and participating in operational security exercises, such as incident response and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Trust & Security Technical Program Management Pillar, including setting the roadmap for all security programs at Confluent
  • Mentor other Security Program Managers on execution and delivery, both from a security subject matter expert perspective as well as program management 
  • Work with stakeholders to drive cross cutting and/or critical security initiatives for the company.
  • Manage and scale security programs by defining milestones and success criteria, resource allocation, and successful on-time delivery.
  • Proactively identify and resolve roadblocks/challenges affecting projects.
  • Drive automation and process improvements for security programs
  • Explain technical architecture, decisions and tradeoffs to both engineering and other functions.
  • Work with Engineering, Product and Security leadership to streamline and drive our projects on a predictable schedule
  • Participate in operational security work, including incident response and vulnerability management

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in running long-term security programs that deliver iterative improvements and risk reduction over time
  • Experience in operational security work, such as incident response and vulnerability management
  • Experience driving complex and massive projects across the organizations.
  • Experience in areas such as release management, cost modeling, capacity planning a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to work with both engineering and other non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing end-to-end lifecycle of technical projects.
  • Strong technical skills. 
  • Experience in actual design and development of software projects is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent practical experience.

About the role:

We are looking for a security engineer that likes working in a rapidly evolving cloud-first
environment. The responsibilities include all aspects of corporate security and coordination with
Business Systems and IT. Responsibilities also include designing models for modern identity
management, authorization, and data access. The candidate we are looking for can define and
implement a clear vision for appropriately managing scalable models that enable just-in-time
access, reduce exposure of compromised credentials, minimize session windows, and provide for
auditability and investigation. In this role, you will work with key partners in our IT and
Business Systems teams as well as our engineering teams, our release engineering team, and all
other engineering groups building out products for the cloud. The ideal candidate has deep
technical security knowledge and expertise and will help define and implement robust security
architecture strategies, frameworks and governance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and influence corporate security across the organization by partnering with key stakeholders throughout Confluent including IT and Business Systems
  • Propose, design, build and deploy security solutions, frameworks, automation and orchestration to secure our corporate infrastructure
  • Act as a technical lead for corporate security and for identity and authorization programs within Confluent
  • Contribute to strategy, risk management and prioritization for all efforts around both corporate security and identity and authorization.
  • Design identity and authorization models for production, cloud, corporate, service-to-service, and non-production environments
  • Define key performance indicators for measurement of programs under your care
  • Contribute to Confluent’s security posture as a subject matter expert

Confluent is looking for a Technical Curriculum Developer. Working with subject matter experts and trainers—and eventually becoming a subject matter expert yourself—you will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining our curriculum of instructor-led and e-learning training courses covering Apache Kafka and the Confluent Platform. Training is a core part of Confluent’s Customer Success strategy, and you will be a key member of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally with SMEs and other teams (engineering, support, professional services, etc.) to develop effective learning content in multiple delivery styles (includes online, classroom, virtual instructor-led training and blended learning content).
  • Design and develop learning solutions and programs to apply adult learning principles and systematic instructional design to enable learners to rapidly absorb the technical content.
  • Develop exercises, illustrations, tutorials, job aids, assessments, and other methods of learning to improve course materials and multimedia based assets.
  • Use project management tools and skills to manage medium to large scale content development projects.
  • Maintain and update current courses, keeping material in sync with new releases of Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to perform needs-assessments and analysis to determine training needs based on customer requirements.

What We're Looking For:

  • Three or more years of experience in a curriculum development role (or similar).
  • An undergraduate degree in communication, education, design, or technical field.
  • Professional experience using e-learning software (Articulate, Captivate, or similar)
  • Experienced using video editing tools (Final Cut, Adobe Premier, After Effects, Camtasia, or similar)
  • Working understanding of web and media design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, HTML, CSS)
  • Experience designing and developing training materials and content to include creating instructor-led materials, online/e-learning modules, job aids, online tutorials, multimedia products (video, graphic, audio), and other training materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage medium to large scale programs while working cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders in IT environment. Familiarity with online learning, learning technology, instructional, graphic, and/or web design or development skills.
  • Experience developing and supporting training for technical/IT related positions
  • Some travel required (<10%).
  • Excellent in spoken and written English
  • Portfolio and/or eLearning sample are required at interview.

What Gives You An Edge:

  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka and/or the Confluent Platform

Confluent technical trainers are often the first point of contact customers have with the company. As a member of this team, you are the sort of person who is comfortable explaining highly complex subjects to people with clarity, patience, and empathy. You are just as passionate about teaching open-source and proprietary products to your students. You have experience teaching courses to groups large and small, in public venues and on-site with clients.

Nothing makes you happier than connecting with a room full of people and creating an environment in which they are able to learn and master exciting new things. You are US-based, and okay traveling up to 75% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver classroom and virtual training to a variety of technical audiences
  • Provide support for course development efforts, including product research, providing subject matter expertise, and training content review
  • Create, update and maintain slide decks and lab exercises for customer facing training
  • Assist with updates for all curricula as required
  • Assist with updates for course descriptions, syllabi, and other collateral pertaining to external education

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong Linux Admin Skills and/or Java programming
  • Background in large scale distributed systems
  • 5+ years' experience as a technical trainer / sales engineer / professional services consultant or equivalent technical position
  • Proven experience successfully delivering ILT and VILT courses on open source technologies to highly technical audiences
  • Experienced with virtual classroom training tools such as WebEx, Zoom, etc.
  • Experience creating training materials
  • Continuous desire to learn and help other understand deeply technical concepts

The Commercial Sales Operations Business Partner will own Confluent’s sales processes and work closely with the leadership of the Commercial sales team to help manage the team's selling efforts.  The Sales Ops Business Partner’s primary responsibilities will be to provide data and analytical support to manage and improve Confluent’s sales processes and cycle, as well as utilizing pipeline data to help report, analyze and forecast the company’s current quarter’s business.

The Commercial Sales Operations Business Partner will:

  • Support weekly forecast and pipeline cadences
  • Provide ad hoc reporting to sales leadership
  • Work with the (A)VP of Sales, RSD's and Finance to refine go-to-market models and sales methodology, including identifying and solving pain points within the organization and sales process
  • Proactively identify issues and solutions to improve the efficiency of the sales force
  • Participate in weekly, quarterly and annual sales planning by preparing and supporting the delivery of specific sales coverage and forecasting analytics
  • Lead efforts to standardize processes and systems (e.g. Salesforce.com) to enable accurate and efficient data collection and management of the company’s sales efforts
  • Partner with the Sales leaders to facilitate our global sales territory planning, by creating and allocating territories as the sales team grows
  • Own communication to the field and maintain calendar of communications from a global to subregion standpoint as well as sales process adoption
  • Manage all daily ad hoc requests from all business units (Finance, Compensation, AE’s, Data Science, etc.)
  • Work closely with other Sales Operations Managers to share knowledge, best practices and facilitate standardization across the whole sales organization

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of Sales Operations experience preferably in a SaaS/cloud company
  • Advanced excel skills required
  • Experienced working with a Partner Channel Team is a plus
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce best-practices and functionality 
  • Comfortable engaging at all levels in an organization to deliver results
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to clearly convey ideas and information in written and verbal form to a variety of audiences

Confluent’s Professional Services organisation is far from a traditional vendor outfit, we are not defined by utilisation rate and margins, we are defined by customer success. The strategic significance of the team cannot be overstated, our Technical Engagement Managers (TEM) play an essential role in enabling our customers to successfully deploy the Confluent Platform, either on-prem, in the cloud, or in hybrid solutions. 

The TEM role is specific to Europe, you will work with defined accounts to develop our relationship and grow the reach of both our product and services offerings. You will:

  • Deliver real technical value to projects through your deep knowledge of distributed data infrastructure. You will have the ability to design, architect and deploy a real time event driven platform at scale.
  • Scope, plan, and define project deliverables 
  • Lead the engagement as primary point of contact 
  • Drive revenue growth in your accounts
  • Prepare Professional Services project proposals 

On top of the customer engagements, you will interact right across our organisation, from sales to , support, to represent a one team approach to our customers.  To ensure that we build products that deliver beyond customer expectations, communication with our Product, Engineering, R&D teams, and the wider Confluent Community is essential. To really succeed, you will build relationships and engage throughout the company.

As we are growing quickly, you will have opportunities to grow your role at speed. You will need energy and focus, but also the ability to think on your feet and operate in a fluid team environment to ensure we have the right people working on the right projects. 

In order to hit the ground running when the ground is already moving fast you will need to bring your experience of building complex distributed solutions for Enterprises. Whilst experience delivering Kafka solutions is desirable,  we also recognise experience with complex databases, messaging, stream processing, databases, cloud services and enterprise data integration. You will also need to know your way around datacentre and hyperscaler infrastructure without a map, we don’t expect you to dive into the Linux Kernel but you need to know where it is.

Responsibilities

The Legal Counsel – EMEA is responsible primarily for supporting Confluent´s EMEA Sales organization in structuring, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, and may have additional responsibilities as needed in support of Confluent’s business.   • Implement a business value platform, like DecisionLink’s ValueCloud® , The EcoSystem Platform, or MediaFly’s Alinean Value Selling & ROI Tool,  to scale the number of business value and value realization assessments conducted each year by Business Value Consultants, Account Executives, Solution Engineers, & Customer Success
  • Manage the process to maintain all financial models and keep current with new product introductions
  • Drive the development of a value messaging framework to enable sellers to focus on value selling vs product/technical selling.  This will include messaging for Confluent as a platform, Confluent solutions,  and industry use cases
  • Own the process to develop and standardize best in class content to be leveraged in all value assessments and value realization engagements aligned to various sales plays
  • Drive the process to create insights based on customer usage and financial metrics to assist with building and operationalizing our customer’s journey

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Networking Solutions Architect to join our Customer Success team. As an architect you will help customers leverage streaming architectures and applications to achieve their business results. In this role, you will interact directly with customers to provide software architecture, design, and operations expertise that leverages your deep knowledge of and experience in Apache Kafka, the Confluent platform, and complementary systems such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, relational, NoSQL databases and cloud networking. You will develop and advocate best practices, gather and validate critical product feedback, and help customers overcome their operational challenges. Throughout all these interactions, you will build a strong relationship with your customer in a very short space of time, ensuring exemplary delivery standards. Requirements:

  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating in-production Big Data, stream processing, and/or enterprise data integration solutions, ideally using Apache Kafka
  • Experience operating Linux (configure, tune, and troubleshoot both RedHat and Debian-based distributions)Experience with distributed systems (Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Following the best cloud computing practice by utilizing (Amazon, GCP, Azure) Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Amazon Elastic Computing Cloud (EC2) and other advanced technical cloud features - VPC Peering, Private Linking.
  • Investigate and provide technical options for selecting effective computing solutions based on requirements.

Overview

Confluent is searching for an experienced technical leader to manage a global team of rockstar Customer Success Engineers (CSEs).  Our CSEs team serves as proactive and deeply technical guides to our customers as they adopt Confluent’s Stream Data Platform.  Many of these customers use Confluent’s products for strategic and mission critical use cases and your goal will be to help your team apply deep technical expertise to reduce time to value during Onboarding, and to help them achieve their business objectives and get full value from Confluent’s suite of products.   In this role you will focus on driving post-sales customer value and project success while supporting business goals for renewal, expansion and strategic growth.

A typical week at Confluent in this role may involve

  • Managing Customer Success Engineers, and acting as a mentor and coach to help them grow in their careers
  • Support ongoing growth and development of the CSE team by owning staffing and hiring 
  • Acting as a point of escalation for customers, and coming up with creative solutions to leverage cross-functional resources to accelerate
  • Onboarding and remove roadblocks to customer value
  • Maturing a robust technical onboarding program aimed at decreasing the “time to value” for new Confluent customers

As part of our rapid growth, we’re looking to expand our Customer Success leadership team.   • Tracking and consistently reducing time to value for new customers with Confluent products. 
  • Identifying and driving constant improvement in Confluent’s internal processes for managing critical customer concerns. Advocating for customers internally.

About the team:

Confluent is growing at an incredible rate with a large amount of our growth taking place working with
our Marketplace Cloud Providers. We are looking for a Business Manager to join our team to support
Marketplace opportunities and processes within Sales Operations. Reporting to the Deals Desk Director,
you will have an opportunity to work cross-functionally throughout our organization on a variety of
projects that support the marketplace deal processes. For this role, an analytical, problem-solving
mindset with attention to detail are imperative, along with strong communications skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross functional teams:  act as a liaison among Finance, Business Development, Sales, Engineering and Cloud Providers to facilitate the deal process for “non-standard” Marketplace opportunities, including the eligibility requirements, implementation and documentation.  Work at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Engage with Engineering and Finance teams to optimize the processes between Confluent and the Cloud Provider and expand Marketplace functionality.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the full quote to cash process and requirements for each of three primary Cloud Providers.

About the Role

Requirements

  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating in-production Big Data, stream processing, and/or enterprise data integration solutions, ideally using Apache Kafka

About the Role

Confluent is seeking a Legal Operations Manager to join our Legal Team. This role will support the Legal Team by creating and managing operational processes and will work cross-functionally to gather and analyze data and metrics about the Legal Team’s day to day functions for the benefit of the team and the broader organization.

  • Identify and repurpose content and resources from Enterprise campaigns & Enterprise Field Marketing to reach the Commercial segment

About the opportunity:

This is a senior leadership role to help build out the Commercial organization at Confluent.

As the Programs head for Commercial, you will be working closely with the sales and presales leaders to help design, launch and execute GTM programs and sales campaigns to scale our business. About the Role
As the Sr. Director, Deal Strategy and Monetization, you will create and lead an empowered shared center of excellence, responsible for designing best practice deal structures and then driving enablement and implementation in the field. 

This team will be called upon by field sales teams early in the cycle for strategic deals and also to strategize on the ideal commercial model to ensure we win and maximize bookings and revenue. This team will also serve an important governance function, entrusted with decision rights by Finance and Legal on the most common requested terms where those functions are able to establish pre-approved non-standard alternatives.

In this role you will work closely with PM (pricing) and Finance on overall monetization strategies and bring feedback, patterns, and competitive intel from the field and customers back to the business in order to continually evolve pricing and deal structure strategy.

What you'll do

  • Own the cross-functional process to create a clear and efficient Global Approval Matrix across all pricing structures and terms
  • Focus on early engagement for our most strategic non-standard deals, with the goal of meeting our customer’s needs while managing risk

About the Role:

Confluent is looking for a Senior Stock Administrator to administer Confluent’s global equity programs.  In this role, you will provide direct support to and partner with key stakeholders in our Finance, Legal and People teams.  You will also be a key point of contact for employees and ensure they are well educated and informed about our equity program and processes.  This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment where your work will have a direct impact on our employees.

Confluent’s tax team is currently comprised of a Head of Tax with assistance from finance personnel and outside consultants.  We enjoy working together, we have constant open communication, and we have been highly adaptable to the current virtual work environment. About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated detail-oriented individual who looks to continue to develop your tax technical skills in a collaborative environment.  You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can clearly and concisely interface with all levels of management. You’ve worked in an agile environment and you can handle multiple tasks, delivering on tight timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary calculations to complete domestic, state, and local income tax returns
  • Collaborate with third-party service providers in preparation of Federal and State income tax returns, including preparation of various book/tax differences.
  • Preparing US International calculations in accordance with applicable technical regulations, including but not limited to GILTI, FDII, & BEAT.
  • Prepare the overall ASC 740 tax provision model including close coordination with the Tax Director, third-party service providers, external audit team, and various Finance functions within the Company
  • Staying abreast of technical updates pertinent to Confluent, Inc.
  • Assist the international finance team with international tax compliance, income tax provisions, and transfer pricing calculations.
  • Assist in the SOX 404 documentation efforts for all tax accounting controls
  • Support ongoing tax projects, including tax research and modeling tax impacts
  • Develop impactful working relationships with finance, accounting, and other teams/organizations within the company
  • Prepare non-income tax calculations for:  sales and use taxes, business taxes, and property taxes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax experience
  • CPA (in process ok)
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Big 4, large public accounting firm or combination of public accounting firm and corporate tax department experience
  • Possess experience working with cross-functional teams, and strong organizational skills

  • Develop and lead detailed compensation design and planning process that incorporates input from sales leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, individual payout modeling, SPIF design, cost and payout benchmarking, overall plan costing and scenario analysis
  • Develop best-in-class terms & conditions, policies, escalation mechanisms and dispute arbitration
  • Build training materials and calculators to ensure that every plan participant understands his or her compensation plan
  • Ensure accurate, timely and reliable plan administration including quota allocation, plan distribution, monthly accrual support, and payout calculations
  • Design and generate high-value reporting to plan participants and cross-functional stakeholders on plan payouts and overall plan performance.
  • Develop deep analytics on commission plan cost drivers, commission efficiency, pay-curves, and plan effectiveness at driving strategic goals. 
  • Partner with finance, legal and HR to address commission disputes and resolve issues directly with plan participants and their management, as appropriate
  • Present annual plan design and recommendations to senior executives, including e-Staff.

Required:

  • 5-to-7 years of sales compensation experience, or 3-5 years of dedicated comp experience plus additional experience in Sales Operations or Financial Planning & Analysis.  
  • Experience with Cloud or B2B SaaS compensation concepts
  • At least 2 years of people management experience
  • Superior analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present to executives
  • Strong individual initiative, with ability to think through problems creatively
  • Superior interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate well with employees at all levels of the organization and across functions
  • Experience with incentive compensation software (e.g. Xactly Incent)
  • Positive work style, focus on getting things done and a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Strong attention to detail
