About the Role

We are looking for strong engineers to help us build out an elastic, scalable, efficient, SQL-based, stream processing technology which operates both on-premises and in the Cloud. You can learn more about what we do by visiting ksqldb.io, or reading some of our recent posts on improving the availability guarantees of our distributed, stateful, systems. 

What you will do

  • Designing and implementing new stream processing operators, including making extensions to the SQL language to incorporate streaming concepts.
  • Improving the performance, scalability, and elasticity of core stream processing technology like Kafka Streams. 
  • Designing solutions to improve the efficiency, reliability, and operability of our distributed, stateful, data processing systems in public clouds.
  • Building novel solutions to enable efficient and scalable querying of state materialized from real time event streams. 
  • Interacting with the Apache Kafka and the ksqlDB communities to provide technical guidance and thought leadership in the stream processing space.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalentStrong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
  • Experience building and operating large-scale systems
  • Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc)
  • A self starter with the ability to work effectively in teams
  • Proficiency in Java or C/ C++

Additional highly desirable experience

  • Experience in open-source development.
  • Experience using Apache Kafka is a big plus
  • Interest in evangelism (giving talks at tech conferences, writing blog posts evangelizing Kafka)

Whilst the role il be remote, you will need to be based in the UK and have the right to work.

What you will do:

  • Our team solves a variety of problems, including but not limited to:
  • Designing and implementing new stream processing operators, including making extensions to the SQL language to incorporate streaming concepts.

About the Role:

As the Global Commercial Sales Strategy Manager, you will work as the strategic advisor to the Global Commercial Sales VP and sales leadership in all facets of structuring, analyzing, and running the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership, perform business analysis and support execution of high-impact strategic projects and mission-critical initiatives to the sales leadership team

About the Role
As the Sr. Director, Deal Strategy and Monetization, you will create and lead an empowered shared center of excellence, responsible for designing best practice deal structures and then driving enablement and implementation in the field. 

This team will be called upon by field sales teams early in the cycle for strategic deals and also to strategize on the ideal commercial model to ensure we win and maximize bookings and revenue. This team will also serve an important governance function, entrusted with decision rights by Finance and Legal on the most common requested terms where those functions are able to establish pre-approved non-standard alternatives.

In this role you will work closely with PM (pricing) and Finance on overall monetization strategies and bring feedback, patterns, and competitive intel from the field and customers back to the business in order to continually evolve pricing and deal structure strategy.

This position reports our VP, GTM Strategy and Operations.

What you'll do

  • Own the cross-functional process to create a clear and efficient Global Approval Matrix across all pricing structures and terms
  • Focus on early engagement for our most strategic non-standard deals, with the goal of meeting our customer’s needs while managing risk 
  • Act as the Field Ops SME/POC for Pricing strategy
  • Partner with Product Management and Marketing in New Product Introduction (NPI) process and with all pricing decisions, to bring a POV from the Field as well as ensure implementation of pricing strategies
  • Enable Sales Team on the structuring of strategic deal types. Include education and guidance on business practices, review and approval of commercial terms, and front line negotiation of agreements
  • Create and implement a governance model for standard and non-standard pricing and terms for a global sales organization
  • Maintain an evolving subject matter expertise in pricing trends and competitive pressures to recommend competitive deal structures
  • Grow, manage, and develop a strategic, highly-skilled, customer-oriented team 

What we're looking for

  • Experience leading a global deal desk function at a SaaS and/or enterprise software company
  • Proven track record of improving deal velocity alongside better risk management 
  • Expertise in driving organizations toward greater effectiveness and efficiency
  • Passion for using data to drive better decision making Experience launching new SaaS pricing and packaging

Confluent is searching for a Customer Success Engineer to join our growing Success Engineering team.  In this role, you will serve as a proactive and deeply technical guide to our customers as they adopt Confluent’s Stream Data Platform.  Many of these customers use Confluent’s products for strategic and mission critical use cases and your goal will be to apply your deep technical expertise to help them avoid issues before they occur. Strong candidates for this position will bring a mix of strong communication skills and technical depth, as the role will involve engaging directly with customers as they work to deploy and operate Kafka and other Confluent products.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build broad experience with Kafka, the Confluent Platform and work with a variety of organizations ranging from new start-ups to large enterprise customers. Throughout all of these interactions, you will build strong relationships with customers, ensure exemplary delivery standards, and have a lot of fun helping our customers build state-of-the-art streaming data infrastructure alongside colleagues who are widely recognized as leaders in this space.

A typical week at Confluent in this role may involve...

  • Working directly with customers throughout their onboarding phase to deliver technical guidance, conduct check-in calls and proactively remove blockers to their deployment and usage of Confluent products
  • Collaborating with our Customer Success Managers and Account teams to develop “Success Plans” for your accounts
  • Engaging with customers to proactively prepare for upgrades, go-lives, and other important events to ensure success during critical periods

  • When necessary, roll up your sleeves and dig in to help address customer issues alongside Confluent Support Engineers and Core Engineering

Required skills and experience

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Experience troubleshooting applications running on Linux (resource contention, network bottlenecks, etc.)

Required skills and experience

  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating in-production Big Data, stream processing, and/or enterprise data integration solutions using Apache Kafka
  • Exceptional interpersonal communications capabilities demonstrated through a history of successful B2B infrastructure software development projects
  • Strong desire to tackle hard technical problems and proven ability do so with little or no direct daily supervision
  • Bachelor’s level degree in Computer Science or an engineering, mathematics, or another quantitative field
  • Proficiency in Java
  • Use of Amazon Web Services for running high throughput systems
  • Skilled in operating Linux, you know how to configure, tune and troubleshoot both RedHat & Debian based distributions

Confluent is looking for a Customer Success Architect in Europe who will serve as the technical champion for our enterprise customers.  In this role, you will function as the primary point of contact for all technical, product and support questions on a day-to-day basis and will coordinate with the various Confluent teams to ensure that Confluent team resources are leveraged efficiently to make your customers successful.

About the Role:

Confluent’s tax team is currently comprised of a Head of Tax with assistance from finance personnel and outside consultants.  We enjoy working together, we have constant open communication, and we have been highly adaptable to the current virtual work environment. About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated detail-oriented individual who looks to continue to develop your tax technical skills in a collaborative environment.  You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can clearly and concisely interface with all levels of management. Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary calculations to complete domestic, state, and local income tax returns
  • Collaborate with third-party service providers in preparation of Federal and State income tax returns, including preparation of various book/tax differences.
  • Preparing US International calculations in accordance with applicable technical regulations, including but not limited to GILTI, FDII, & BEAT.
  • Prepare the overall ASC 740 tax provision model including close coordination with the Tax Director, third-party service providers, external audit team, and various Finance functions within the Company
  • Staying abreast of technical updates pertinent to Confluent, Inc.
  • Assist the international finance team with international tax compliance, income tax provisions, and transfer pricing calculations.
  • Assist in the SOX 404 documentation efforts for all tax accounting controls
  • Support ongoing tax projects, including tax research and modeling tax impacts
  • Develop impactful working relationships with finance, accounting, and other teams/organizations within the company
  • Prepare non-income tax calculations for:  sales and use taxes, business taxes, and property taxes.

  • 3+ years of tax experience

About the Team:

About the Role:
As Director, Global Sales Compensation, you will be responsible for developing and administering a world class sales compensation process and building out the next phase of capabilities across the function. In this high-impact role you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including executive leadership, Finance, Data Science, and HR.  This is a mission-critical role that will help usher Confluent through its next phase of growth. This role reports to the VP of Go-To-Market Strategy and Operations and will manage a small team of direct reports.  This role will also serve as the main point of contact to support both operational and strategic timelines, policies and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic alignment on the “shape” of business and go-to-market motions that senior company leadership wants to drive through the sales incentive program
  • Develop and lead detailed compensation design and planning process that incorporates input from sales leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, individual payout modeling, SPIF design, cost and payout benchmarking, overall plan costing and scenario analysis
  • Develop best-in-class terms & conditions, policies, escalation mechanisms and dispute arbitration
  • Build training materials and calculators to ensure that every plan participant understands his or her compensation plan
  • Ensure accurate, timely and reliable plan administration including quota allocation, plan distribution, monthly accrual support, and payout calculations
  • Design and generate high-value reporting to plan participants and cross-functional stakeholders on plan payouts and overall plan performance.
  • Develop deep analytics on commission plan cost drivers, commission efficiency, pay-curves, and plan effectiveness at driving strategic goals. 
  • Partner with finance, legal and HR to address commission disputes and resolve issues directly with plan participants and their management, as appropriate
  • Present annual plan design and recommendations to senior executives, including e-Staff.

Required:

  • 5-to-7 years of sales compensation experience, or 3-5 years of dedicated comp experience plus additional experience in Sales Operations or Financial Planning & Analysis.

  • Our team solves a variety of problems, including but not limited to:
  • Designing and implementing new stream processing operators, including making extensions to the SQL language to incorporate streaming concepts.

  • Designing solutions to improve the efficiency, reliability, and operability of our distributed, stateful, data processing systems in public clouds.

About the Role

About the Team

About the Role:

We are looking for a Partner Solutions Architect (SA) / SE to be the technical lead for our partners in the Americas.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Director to join our Deal Desk team and strategically drive day-to-day deal operations and foster the next phase of capabilities in the team to exponentially increase sales velocity. Education is a key driver to our customers’ success.  Confluent is seeking a strong and passionate curriculum development manager to guide our educational content development and release processes, working across  departments and with customer input to ensure the successful end-to-end delivery of the largest and most complex curriculum development projects and e-learning initiatives.  The Curriculum Development Manager will work with content developers, instructional designers, and subject matter experts from across Confluent to build and execute against a content roadmap using a structured, controlled, best-practices and methodology-based approach. Ideally, the successful candidate would have a track record with experience in the software industry. 

What you can expect to work on

  • Content Strategy: working across Confluent departments, establish an enterprise content strategy aligned with top priorities of event streaming practitioners, including existing customers and prospects.  Oversee storyboard creation.  Brainstorming and nurturing new programs and initiatives that relate to the mission of Confluent Education is an on-going important component of this position.
  • Content and Curriculum Development: oversee development of an on-demand-first content portfolio capable of numerous delivery uses.  Build, maintain and continually evolve and enhance curriculum and learning paths, across multiple personas.  Experience managing content in languages other than English a plus or previous localization knowledge would be helpful.
  • Release Management: manage all educational products globally by facilitating the successful and consistent launch of all products (ex:- courses, datasheets, video learning modules, ILT classes worldwide).  Balance stakeholder priorities and business profitability.  
  • Quality management: ensure content and learning experiences meet quality standards
  • Team management: the ability to project manage multiple moving parts of curriculum development is vital therefore experience in management of virtual teams is a must.

Enterprise Account Executives play a key role in driving Confluent’s sales activities in region. This role includes activities developing and executing on the go-to-market strategy for your territory. The ideal candidate needs to have experience selling complex Database, Messaging, Big Data, Open Source and/or SaaS into large corporate and multi national companies.

This new role will cover the German speaking region so you will need to be based in the Zurich area.

The InfoSec Compliance Analyst will be responsible for evaluating and supporting information security initiatives covering compliance, policy, risk management, and awareness.  With guidance from the team leadership, this individual will oversee compliance initiatives across multiple information security standards including FedRAMP, SOC, ISO, HIPAA, PCI, and others as appropriate.  The individual in this role must have excellent communication and organizational skills to manage processes and liaise with various groups within the business.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required plus a minimum of 2 years experience in Information Security and Compliance
  • Strong IT acumen and experience applying new technology to monitor and improve business processes
  • Experience with a combination of the following: SOC, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI, FedRAMP, CSA, CIS, NIST

Additional Qualifications

  • CISSP, CISA, or equivalent certification completed or currently in progress

We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Customer Success team. As a Solutions Architect (SA), you will help customers leverage streaming architectures and applications to achieve their business results. We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Customer Success team. As a Solutions Architect (SA), you will help customers leverage streaming architectures and applications to achieve their business results. In this role, you will interact directly with customers to provide software architecture, design, and operations expertise that leverages your deep knowledge of and experience in Apache Kafka, the Confluent platform, and complementary systems such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, relational and NoSQL databases. You will develop and advocate best practices, gather and validate critical product feedback, and help customers overcome their operational challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Helping a customer determine his/her platform and/or application strategy for moving to a more real-time, event-based business. Such engagements often involve remote preparation; presenting an onsite or remote workshop for the customer’s architects, developers, and operations teams; investigating (with Engineering and other coworkers) solutions to difficult challenges; and writing a recommendations summary doc.
  • Providing feedback to the Confluent Product and Engineering groups
  • Building tooling for another team or the wider company to help us push our technical boundaries and improve our ability to deliver consistently with high quality
  • Testing performance and functionality of new components developed by Engineering

Requirements

  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating in-production Big Data, stream processing, and/or enterprise data integration solutions, ideally using Apache Kafka
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple B2B infrastructure software development projects, including driving expansion, customer satisfaction, feature adoption, and retention
  • Experience operating Linux (configure, tune, and troubleshoot both RedHat and Debian-based distributions)
  • Experience using cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) for running high-throughput systems
  • Experience with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience with distributed systems (Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Java
  • Strong desire to tackle hard technical problems, and proven ability to do so with little or no direct daily supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to clearly and concisely explain tricky issues and complex solutions
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies

Confluent’s Business Development team is the voice of the company to our partners and the voice of our partners to our internal product and engineering teams. The Enterprise Account Manager (EAM) will play a key role in driving customer success, renewals and subscription expansion within our Enterprise accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet/exceed quarterly renewal targets by proactively managing renewal portfolio and customer retention activities as a member of a sales team.

What We're Looking For:
Experience overseeing enterprise-level IT delivery projects (10+ years or equivalent capability). 
Experience selling enterprise IT delivery services (2+ years or equivalent capability).  
Demonstrated success in building and developing remote delivery teams including resource management, performance assessment, and career/growth planning.
The role will be largely customer-facing, so exceptional interpersonal communications capabilities are vital. 
You will travel to customer sites and lead engagements that include working with business executives, enterprise architects and engineering/design management personnel from the customer.  
Ability (and willingness) to travel up to 50% of the time to client sites to support sales opportunities and existing customer relationships. As you will cover the central region including the DACH countries business fluent spoken and written German is essential.

Enterprise Account Executives play a key role in driving Confluent’s sales activities in region. We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Customer Success team. As a Solutions Architect (SA), you will help customers leverage streaming architectures and applications to achieve their business results. In this role, you will interact directly with customers to provide software architecture, design, and operations expertise that leverages your deep knowledge of and experience in Apache Kafka, the Confluent platform, and complementary systems such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, relational and NoSQL databases. You will develop and advocate best practices, gather and validate critical product feedback, and help customers overcome their operational challenges.

Throughout all these interactions, you will build a strong relationship with your customer in a very short space of time, ensuring exemplary delivery standards. Responsibilities

Such engagements often involve remote preparation; presenting an onsite or remote workshop for the customer’s architects, developers, and operations teams; investigating (with Engineering and other coworkers) solutions to difficult challenges; and writing a recommendations summary doc.
  • Providing feedback to the Confluent Product and Engineering groups
  • Building tooling for another team or the wider company to help us push our technical boundaries and improve our ability to deliver consistently with high quality
  • Testing performance and functionality of new components developed by Engineering

Requirements

  • Deep experience designing, building, and operating in-production Big Data, stream processing, and/or enterprise data integration solutions, ideally using Apache Kafka

  • Experience operating Linux (configure, tune, and troubleshoot both RedHat and Debian-based distributions)
