We want to throw the long ball with people we love for a cause we believe in. Life is short. Join us.

Why Devoted:

Make a difference... a big difference. You will have the opportunity, in a unique and dynamic culture, to be a part of something incredibly meaningful. We’re a disruptive startup with an inspiring mission. Learn and grow alongside our world-class team of healthcare, technology, and data leaders, dedicated to building a health plan and clinical services that care for everyone like they were our own mothers or fathers. Our team and board members have decades of experience in health policy, clinical services, data and technology. With their support, we look forward to building a health plan and clinical services that will give seniors easy access to the high-quality care they deserve.

A bit about this role:

Technology does amazing things in our daily lives, yet often is a source of pain and confusion within health care.  We want to empower Devoted to deliver a world-class member experience with simple, flexible technical systems.  If we need to delve into the murky underbelly of health care IT to do that, we’re up for the challenge.

Our north star is not a specific technology, but rather the goal of continually increasing the leverage of every member of the team. We’re currently building with Go, PostgreSQL, gRPC, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, Terraform, and AWS, and we think it’s a pretty awesome stack.

We want engineer-owners with the judgment to simultaneously solve for short and long-term business value.  We’re looking for folks who have worked in complex domains and systems, and come through it with some wisdom but most importantly humility.  We want people who are passionate about building great technology to solve problems for users—our members, our colleagues, and ourselves.

With a focus on the User, you should be skilled in understanding problems and feature requests as they’re presented; visualizing how it should look, feel, and work; and then building it!  You will be working with member-facing teams (across our various product lines).
Whether you have a health care background or not, we are excited to learn from and share knowledge with you.  Our engineering leadership team includes seasoned alumni of healthcare and technology organizations spanning the public and private sector.  Our co-founders deeply understand and care about good technology:  Todd Park co-founded Athenahealth, a multi-billion-dollar healthcare technology company, and served as CTO of the U.S.; Ed Park was Athenahealth's founding engineer and served as its CTO, COO, and President of Services.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Building product features across a range of technologies with a human-centered focus
  • Working with subject matter experts to understand and design solutions to improve our members' lives
  • Working with other members of the technology team to improve our technology platform

Attributes to success:

  • Strong user orientation; as you will create sophisticated, imaginative, and efficient front-end solutions for complex applications in a complex industry
  • Experience coupled with a willingness to learn new things
  • Comfort with uncertainty and a desire to be close to business problems
  • Desire to contribute individually, with the ability both to self-direct work and to collaborate with others on the technology team
  • Understanding of many technologies down to first principles, and a desire to add more to the list

Desired skills and experience:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • 7+ years working as an individual technical contributor
  • 5+ years’ experience with React
  • 3+ years' experience with TypeScript
  • Strong experience working with product and design stakeholders, as well as gathering input from end users
  • Experience with some of our specific stack components a bonus, but not required

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ask questions and actively listen to assess a prospect’s needs and offer appropriate solutions to convert callers to customers when it’s the best decision for the individual
  • Support inbound call campaigns from prospective members, and provide the type of support or information required by the prospect
  • Make some outbound calls to prospects that have indicated interest in a follow-up and have provided consent to contact (no cold calls)
  • Provide general information and answer questions regarding Devoted’s products and value proposition to prospective members over the phone
  • Assist the potential member to complete the enrollment application with accurate information that are consistent with medicare requirements and enrollment guidelines
  • Meet and consistently exceed sales and activity goals
  • Providing ongoing feedback on processes and workflows to improve Devoted’s Sales Organization and the experience of our prospective members
  • Be willing to spend seconds or hours on a single call in order to help meet any and all of the needs of our prospective members

Attributes to success:

  • A passion for building strong relationships on the phone
  • A commitment to help continuously and constructively develop a team of direct reports
  • A deep team-orientation across the organization
  • An analytical mindset to see and create opportunities for improvement

Desired skills and experience:

  • Ability to work in a startup, fast paced environment

  • At least 1 year of experience in telesales/teleservice and/or Medicare sales
  • Medicare product experience
  • Experience using and training CRM and marketing automation applications (Salesforce.com, Unica)
  • Dedication to high quality customer and client service delivery and integrity through proven client and customer relationships
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external employees, managers, clients and customers
  • Bilingual for English and Spanish (professional and fluent levels in both) preferred but not required

Learn and grow alongside our world-class team of health care, technology, and data leaders, dedicated to building a health plan and clinical services that care for everyone like they were our own mothers or fathers. Our team and board members have decades of experience in health care entrepreneurship, data, technology, services, and policy.

We’re currently building with Go, PostgreSQL, gRPC, GraphQL, React, TypeScript, Terraform, and AWS; and we think it’s a pretty awesome stack.

Whether you have a healthcare background or not, we are excited to learn from and share knowledge with you.

  • Building product features across a range of technologies
  • Working with subject matter experts to understand and design solutions to improve our members lives
  • Working with other members of the technology team to improve our technology platform

Attributes to success:

  • Experience coupled with a willingness to learn new things
  • Comfort with uncertainty and a desire to be close to business problems
  • Desire to contribute individually, with the ability both to self-direct work and to collaborate with others on the technology team
  • Understanding of many technologies down to first principles, and a desire to add more to the list

Desired skills and experience:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • 8+ years working as a software engineer
  • 5+ years working as an individual technical contributor
  • You have experience designing and developing cloud-native, scalable, and highly available distributed systems
  • You are skilled at taking a functional prototype and building it into a system that can survive hundreds or thousands of requests per minute.  You love to dive deep into the architecture of the software.
  • Experience with our specific stack components a bonus, but not required

Our team and board members have decades of experience in health care entrepreneurship, data, technology, services, and policy. Be part of building a health plan and clinical services operation that will give seniors easy access to the high-quality care they, and we all, deserve.

Ever wondered what it would take to build a solution to US healthcare from scratch?  Come here to find out, and make it happen.

A bit about this role:

We are planning to deliver the best care for consumers in healthcare- and that’s going to require some new and better tools, and some new and better data analytics.  Most healthcare teams don’t have the tools and data they want at their fingertips.  Their systems are siloed, high latency, and transaction focused… all of which make it difficult to move healthcare to a world where we pay for value and care for members seamlessly.
So while we are gearing up to deliver outstanding care, we are also building the tools that the whole industry needs to transition to better care instead of just more care.  This will be the first platform of it’s kind in healthcare.

We are looking for a seasoned Product Manager who knows consumer products and tools, understands which data to collect and pay attention to, and who is excited to take on complicated and challenging problems.  Someone who seeks to make something that is complex feel simple and intuitive. Our goal is to build technology which lets human interactions shine through; which provides the context and data needed, and then gets out of the way. In this role, you will create a vision for how the consumer experience can be transformed in healthcare, creating both customer satisfaction and better health outcomes through improved data and coordination.
Your teammates will be world class, and you’ll get to learn from the absolute best across the industry.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Create the vision for the platform which will bring customer support and payer systems into the 21st century, delivering the tools for reps and our doctors to deliver and simple and magical experience to consumers. Work with engineering, data, research, UX, operations, and sales to deliver this vision.
  • Define a set of KPIs to measure customer satisfaction and operational impact, and be able to analyze them and utilize them in decision making processes.  Drive continuous improvement to these KPIs.
  • Work with internal operations teams to transform their delivery model through the continuously evolving platform.

Attributes to success:

  • A super proactive “get it done” attitude, and the skills to back it up.
  • The uncanny ability to get everyone on the same page in a complex cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to manage a wide array of stakeholder groups, including the ability to listen and solicit carefully, and synthesize all their input into an action plan, then communicate it back to them and eventually, the whole company.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly articulate needs, objectives, priorities, and strategy in writing.
  • Comfort with the uncertainty inherent in a startup.
  • Deep desire to make US healthcare better.

Desired skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of product management or product development.
  • A proven track record of shipping products with business value.
  • A history of translating customer insights into tools that customers love to use.
  • Excellent communication skills — you will need to work with a highly cross-functional team.
  • Experience in operations, operations strategy, and engineering.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, or an enthusiasm to learn.
  • Proven track record of shipping products with proven business value.
  • A history of translating customer insight into recommendations that customers love to act on.
