Instructure is seeking an innovative learning designer to create amazing learning experiences. We’re looking for a generalist with a broad background in creating engaging digital content, instructional and interactive design, technical writing, learning and edtech theories. Strong written and verbal communication, and active listening skills needed for the interface between clients, designers, and sales team. Ability to present resources and facilitate conversation in a professional and polished manner. Demonstrated Canvas LMS instructional design expertise a must!

What you will be doing:

  • Our dedicated instructional design services enable clients to focus more on building learning content and supporting learners, and less on the technical aspects involved in designing Canvas courses. 

  • Whether it be in-person design workshops, 1:1 consulting, or drop-in office hours, the dedicated instructional designer will work collaboratively with our clients to align, enrich, and elevate their Canvas course content.

What you'll need to know/have:

  • Demonstrated Canvas LMS instructional design expertise a must! 
  • This is a remote-based position for a client located in California
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating mad skills designing and building eLearning experiences within Canvas for web and mobile platforms
  • Experience with HTML, Graphic Design, and Layout skills
  • Knowledge of learning theories and student engagement and usability
  • Technical skills in using instructional design software and authoring tools
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting project deadlines
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting/problem-solving mindset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience contributing to the creation and execution of project and communication plans
  • You love fast-paced, get-stuff-done roles and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, adult learning, education technology, or other design-related fields. Master’s or PhD degree in design-related fields a plus.

Our team builds and supports tools for other Instructure engineers to enable DevOps on every single team, reduce duplicated effort in our delivery pipeline, and increase overall developer happiness! The right candidate will be passionate about innovative tooling, engineering a great user experience, and large scale efficiency.

    • We are engineers with experience building innovative internal tools that help engineers be more productive.
    • We are a mixed stack and polyglot team with a deep commitment to quality and to using the right tech for each problem we solve.
    • This team works on a lot of different projects across a broad spectrum of technologies in the DevOps space.
    • Our engineers become the primary owners of services that enable product teams to execute on product instead of infrastructure.
    • We use Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, Node.js, Go, PostgreSQL, Linux, Java and many AWS technologies including CodeDeploy, DynamoDB, Lambda, ElasticSearch, RDS and Kinesis.
    • We review code and participate in technical design reviews.
    • We work with product management to refine requirements and scope projects.


What We Look For:

    • Experience with Amazon Web Services and developing against Amazon APIs.
    • Experience programming in Ruby, Node, or Go.
    • Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, etc).
    • Experience with Terraform, Ansible or other infrastructure as code tools.
    • Experience creating or managing a CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins, Git/Gerrit, Spinnaker etc.).
    • Previous experience working fully remote.
    • MS/B in Computer Science or applicable development camp certificate preferred

We are searching for an engineer who is passionate about building shared network tools & services as a force multiplier. Our team builds and supports tools & services that allow product teams to use the Envoy API Gateway to reduce or eliminate overhead of common network problems such as authentication, authorization, rate limiting, CSRF validation and more. The right candidate will be passionate about the problem space and motivated to create shared tools & services that are easy to use.  

Culturally our team will look and feel very much like a highly collaborative start-up. We value innovation, so much so that we have quarterly Hackweeks; a week each quarter to work on relevant pet projects and features. 

This position is available for remote work in the US, Chicago, Salt Lake City or Philadelphia, with some travel required.

    • Our engineers become the primary owners of services that enable product teams to execute on product instead of infrastructure.
    • We use Ruby, Go, Bash, C++, Linux, and AWS technologies including EC2. We rely heavily on open source libraries, tools & services, most notably Envoy, Bazel, and Hashicorp Vault, Consul & Terraform.
    • We review code and participate in technical design reviews.We work with product management to refine requirements and scope projects.


What We Look For:

    • Experience with Amazon Web Services and developing against Amazon APIs.
    • Experience programming in Go, C++ or Ruby.
    • Experience with containers like Docker, Kubernetes, etc. (We currently use Docker).
    • Experience with Terraform, Ansible or other infrastructure as code tools.
    • Experience creating or managing a CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins, Git/Gerrit, Spinnaker etc.).
    • Previous experience working fully remote.
    • 7+ years of professional Software Development experience. 
    • MS/B in Computer Science or applicable development camp certificate preferred
