Springboard runs an online Data Engineering Career Track in which participants learn with the help of a curated, project-based curriculum and 1-1 guidance from an expert mentor.

Data Engineering Career Track is a 6-month intensive bootcamp and we are looking for Course Teaching Assistants to help support students outside of their mentor calls.

Requirements

  • Are as passionate about teaching Data Engineering as about Data Engineering itself
  • Professional experience with SQL and an OOP language like Python or Java
  • Have an excellent understanding of fundamental data engineering skills, tools, and concepts including working with Big Data (Hadoop, Spark), Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), building data pipelines (batch/streaming, APIs), orchestration (Airflow), and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • You have a flexible schedule that allows you to work a few hours per day, at least 5 days per week
  • Are able to provide support via email and Slack
  • Are empathetic and have excellent communication skills, able to break down complex concepts for beginners
  • Bonus points for experience conducting reviews on through online platforms!

  • Completely online and self-paced. Coursework is ~200 hours and on average, students finish it in 6 months.
  • Participants in this course are working professionals and college students from all over the world, interested in getting started with data science.
  • Participants learn about Data Engineering with the help of a curated online curriculum and a personal mentor. They go through the curriculum at their own pace and have a weekly 30-minute checkin with their mentor to discuss questions, projects, and career advice!
  • Course TA's provide students with support via email and our online community so that students get the help they need even outside of their mentor calls

Lead Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert

The Company

Due to the persistent labor gap, we’ve identified cybersecurity as the next vertical in which we feel there’s a need for hands-on, mentor-led, career-focused learning. 

The Opportunity
We’re looking for an expert to help us build a cybersecurity course. 
This will be an online 6- to 9-month program designed to help students find an entry-level blue-team cybersecurity analyst job within 6 months of graduation. You’ll set the vision to ensure we’re teaching all that is needed to succeed as a cybersecurity analyst, in the different domains of policy, networking, and technical tools. Your work will include designing instructional modules and exercises so students can both learn and practice applying fundamental cybersecurity concepts, helping them shine during interviews and ultimately on the job.

This role will be a part-time contract role for a duration of ~4 months starting immediately. We estimate a workload of roughly 20 hours per week and ask that you’re available to work synchronously during PST hours on weekdays. Given the current pandemic, this will be a remote opportunity. This is a paid engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision for effectively teaching the key cybersecurity concepts required to secure an entry-level position
  • Work with a Springboard instructional designer to define learning outcomes and structure a curriculum of learning modules, exercises, or other teaching methods to realize that vision
  • Support instructional design in curating content and building modules as required 
  • Design exercises that allow students to improve their cybersecurity skills through live practice and industry exposure, including in lab environments
  • Create rubrics for mentors to evaluate student work (in projects & lab environments)
  • Provide supporting lesson descriptions in the Springboard format
  • Provide expert guidance on the most effective strategies and tactics to help graduates stand out during their cybersecurity interviews

You have

  • Experience as a hiring manager for entry-level cybersecurity roles
  • Currently working in cybersecurity in the US for 5+ years, preferably with experience in both network security and application security
  • Clear point of view on what skills are needed in an entry-level cybersecurity role and how to teach them in a structured manner
  • Strong familiarity with NIST CSF and other industry-wide standards
  • Advanced understanding of core cybersecurity tools, including Kali Linux, Wireshark, Splunk, Snort, etc.
  • CISSP certification and basic understanding of the certification landscape
  • Passion for educating and guiding the next generation of cybersecurity analysts
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills and diligence in meeting deadlines 
  • Ability to work independently and produce high-quality work without extensive supervision

Bonus points if you have...

  • Cybersecurity experience in multiple industries or at multiple companies
  • Experience producing educational materials (especially for cybersecurity)

The Opportunity
As we grow in India, we’re looking to bring on a tenacious, empathetic member of our Admissions team, who will work with our prospective students (working professionals with 5 to 7 years of work experience) to ensure strong enrollments in our courses. Your role will be to educate, inspire, and skillfully guide potential Springboard students through the application and enrollment process. You’ll have the unique opportunity to support prospective learners, help them understand our courses, and make better educational choices. Success in this role is measured by hitting and exceeding monthly enrollment targets, consistently staying ahead of daily metrics, and handling rejection in stride, all in an education-focused environment. 

What You'll Do

  • Play a key role in scaling enrollments for Springboard India for its programs
  • Counsel prospective learners to help them understand how they should approach their learning decision, solve their issues(including ones related to AI/ML at a top level) and guide them to make the enrollment decision
  • Identify and understand where a prospective learner is wrt to decision making, what would make them make an informed decision in favor of Springboard and take/execute required action/activities accordingly
  • Monitor and manage a number of moving parts at any given moment, such as interviews with applicants and mentors, the collection of user feedback, and reporting of admissions performance
  • Work closely with our marketing, communications, and operations teams to best optimize the admissions funnel and drive enrollments
  • Provide consistent, organized reporting to internal stakeholders; ensure timely information flow between Operations and Marketing

What You'll Need

  • 1-2 years of experience in Inside Sales
  • Experience working on CRM
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills. Empathetic and considerate with prospective learners to understand their POV
  • Emphatic attention to detail and an interest in tech
  • An understanding/deep interest in the field of Data Science and AI/ML is highly preferred
  • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous, quickly-evolving environments

Data Engineer - Lead Subject Matter Expert

Now we’re expanding our Data Science course offerings, and we’re looking for an expert who has a strong background in Data Engineering to help us build a new Data Engineering course in the coming months. This is a unique opportunity to put your expertise into action to educate the next generation of Data Engineers and increase your domain mastery through teaching. 

The course will be an online 6-to-9 month program designed to help students find a job within 6 months of completion. You’ll set the vision to ensure we’re teaching all that is needed to succeed as a Data Engineer. Your work will include creating projects and other materials to define students’ learning experiences.  

This role will be a part-time contract role for a duration of 3~4 months (starting immediately) with potential for ongoing consulting work. We estimate a workload of roughly 15-20 hours/ week. You can work with us out of our office in San Francisco or remotely. This is a paid engagement. 

Responsibilities:

You’ll work with our curriculum development team to create a Data Engineering course.

As part of this role, you will

  • Set the vision for effectively teaching key data engineering concepts and skills
  • Define learning objectives and course structure (units and projects)
  • Collaborate with the instructional designers and other subject matter experts to build the full curriculum. This includes:
  • Designing, writing, and building course projects (and associated resources)
  • Curating high-quality resources (videos, articles) that effectively teach course topics 
  • Writing descriptions that summarize and explain the importance of each topic covered in the course
  • Create rubrics for mentors to evaluate student work (especially course projects)

Experience

  • Currently working as a Data Engineer in the U.S. for 3+ years including experience with data warehousing, ETL, big data systems, data modeling and schema design, and owning data quality.
  • 1+ years of  experience hiring and/or managing Data Engineers
  • Passion for teaching. Previous teaching experience is a huge bonus.

Skills

  • Understanding of Data Engineering landscape and how the field varies across companies
  • Ability to identify the tools and industry practices students need to learn to successfully become Data Engineers
  • Clear point-of-view on what skills are needed for an entry level Data Engineer role and how to teach them in a structured manner

The Technical Community Manager will review student projects, help students get unstuck, welcome new students to the community and share resources relevant to business and data analytics.

The Role
We’re seeking an empathetic, problem-solving, “people person” to serve as a Student Success Manager. You’ll be responsible for making sure students have an excellent onboarding, are engaged with and understand our learning experience, and stay motivated all the way through to graduation. Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of student engagement and own success metrics like Activation, Retention, and Satisfaction. 
  • Guide students through each stage of their Springboard experience, with a key focus on encouraging good habits that will help students graduate successfully
  • Quickly address student questions, concerns, feedback, and more via email/phone/video calls
  • Develop strong working knowledge of Springboard’s student experience and best practices, acting as a trusted advisor for your students

Your typical day may include:

  • Helping students define and develop realistic and meaningful educational/career plans
  • Matching new students with mentors, based on your understanding of their needs 
  • Collaborating with our Mentor Team to ensure mentors are aware of students’ progress or concerns 
  • Proactively encouraging students who need help staying motivated
  • Acting as the voice of students internally (to product, marketing, course development etc.) by collecting and sharing student feedback, ideas and stories.
