  • Train our clients and partners in the art and science of administering a bleeding-edge Elastic AI platform
  • Drive technical success by being a trusted advisor to our customers and our internal account teams to provide the best recommendations and advance customer accounts

  • Hands-on experience with the Hadoop and/or Spark ecosystem for setup, administration, troubleshooting and tuning
  • Some experience with Python
  • Familiarity with Ansible or other application deployment tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc)

Qualifications (you must have):

  • Experience deploying and monitoring scalable Kubernetes applications

Dataiku allows enterprises to create value with their data in a human-centered way while breaking down silos and encouraging collaboration. One of the most unique characteristics of our product, Data Science Studio (DSS), is the breadth of its scope and the fact that it caters both to technical and non-technical users. Through DSS, we aim to empower people through data and democratize data science.

At Dataiku, we believe that engaging and user-friendly interfaces are the difference between good and great software. We are looking for an experienced front-end developer to add new exciting features to Dataiku DSS, and turn it into an even better product for our users.

Dataiku DSS brings together big data and AI technologies into a unique and easy-to-use platform. It allows data scientists to process data with SQL databases, Spark, and Kubernetes with either user-friendly interfaces or code. The same platform also allows business analysts to create powerful machine or deep learning models with just a few clicks.

What we do
We design and code experiences that resonate with our growing customer base. We empower non-technical users with user-friendly and well-thought tools to let them quickly and efficiently visualize, analyze, or process their data.

Our current technical stack is based on Javascript, Angular, AngularJS, and D3.js (we only support the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox!). The backend part is built on top of Java/Spring and Python.

What you will do
With your top-tier teammates from the engineering team and the help of the UX team, you will:

-Implement new features with the best user experience possible
-Build the components that allow our users to create and display charts, dashboards and datagrid in a  scalable way.
-Work closely with product managers and UX designers to brainstorm on new features and iteratively  refine solutions.
-Shape a safe place to work where all ideas and suggestions are welcome and taken into account, and where we all know everyone does their best.
-Define and enforce guidelines to ensure that our users get the same experience across the whole product, and that all developers share common practices
-Set the example: write high-quality code, as your teammates do!

You are the ideal recruit if:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in front-end software development and are familiar with one or more javascript frameworks.
  • You are customer-oriented — you want to understand customer needs and how the product is used. You have opinions about how things should be!
  • You know that a well-presented chart is worth a thousand table cells.
  • You enjoy teaching others all your tricks but also learning from your teammates.
  • You blink each time you see a misaligned input!
  • You are humble and kind. You don't hesitate to ask questions when you don't know, and you treat your colleagues with respect, kindness, and honesty.
  • You are self-motivated. You take initiative and drive solutions despite ambiguity.

  • On-site meeting (or video call) with a software developer or a team lead
  • Home test to show your skills
  • Final interviews with an engineering manager and a VP of engineering
  • An informal interview with a Dataiker to understand our culture

  • You need autonomy to thrive - we trust our people, give them space to do their best and stay away from artificial deadlines

Design Director, Books
Medium
executive data science Mar 08
Medium’s mission is to help people deepen their understanding of the world and discover ideas that matter. We are building a place where ideas are judged on the value they provide to readers, not the fleeting attention they can attract for advertisers. We are creating the best place for reading and writing on the internet—a place where today’s smartest writers, thinkers, experts, and storytellers can share big, interesting ideas.

Our mission hinges on design: designing a product that helps readers discover the stories that matter to them; designing an ecosystem that supports and rewards quality writing; designing an experience that respects intelligence and is worth paying for. We are building this future, one product release at a time, and looking to designers to help lead the way.

We are looking for a Design Director to lead the brand-new Books initiative at Medium. Medium is expanding into books, aiming to be the best platform for reading and writing, whether it’s a short blog post or a full-length book. You will collaborate with product and engineering peers to develop a vision for Medium Books and work with the team to execute on that vision. You will collaborate closely with the VP of Product Design on high-level strategy, and translate that strategy into clear guidance, process, and feedback for product designers. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to shape how millions of people discover and share ideas every day.

What will you do?

  • Lead the design vision for the end-to-end books experience on Medium, including hands-on product design work.
  • Manage and develop one product designer, setting clear goals, evolving our design process, bringing in best practices, building a strong team culture, and ensuring that they have what they need to be successful.
  • Partner with the VP of Product Design to develop strategic goals for the reader experience and work with your team to make that vision come to life.
  • Establish a strong design process that makes space for innovative, divergent exploration and maintains the highest levels of creative execution.
  • Work with product management, engineering, and data science to ensure a well-aligned and coordinated product development process. This includes advocating for design and upholding a culture of respect and trust across disciplines.
  • Develop product design strategies that are informed by user research, business objectives, and design best practices.

Who are you?

  • You have experience leading design teams working on consumer Internet products, ideally with experience working on books or media products.
  • You are comfortable doing hands-on design work and managing other designers.
  • You have a track record of mentoring and developing designers to do their best work. You value open collaboration and know how to foster a culture of trust.
  • You excel at bringing clarity and structure to ideas and can put in place strong processes to make them happen.
  • You love big sweeping ideas but also enjoy the details. From product ideation and system thinking to kerning and grids, you demonstrate a capacity and enthusiasm for the spectrum of design.
  • You have experience managing designers that work with cross-functional product teams in an agile / scrum environment.
  • You have a deep understanding of UX best practices in mobile and web applications.
  • You have strong portfolio of design work demonstrating end-to-end product design on products at varying points of the product life-cycle.
At Medium, we foster an inclusive, supportive, fun yet challenging team environment. We understand the value of diverse backgrounds and respect the healthy expression of diverse opinions. We embrace experimentation and the examination of all kinds of ideas through reasoning and testing. Come join us as we continue to change the world of digital media. Spreedly is a rapidly growing, growth private-equity funded digital payments company with headquarters located in downtown Durham, North Carolina. We've developed a high volume, global solution to support our vision that the world is better with a diversified, inclusive, payment ecosystem.

Our employees help build a culture that values independence, transparency, and collaboration in a digital-first communication environment. We hope you do your best work at Spreedly and find a mature workplace striving to support the ebb and flow of work-life harmony.

Spreedly is the world’s first, and leading, Payments Orchestration solution. Connecting to multiple payment services, known as payment orchestration, is the new standard. Building and maintaining custom payment integrations can be slow and expensive. With Spreedly’s PCI compliant cloud solution, merchants can connect to one or multiple payment services simultaneously, work with global payment gateways, control card data, and accept alternative payment types.

The business is experiencing rapid growth and now serves 600 customers globally.  Many of Spreedly’s customers are platforms and marketplaces that have thousands of their merchants leveraging our payments platform.  Our customers include industry leaders in digital goods, order ahead and delivery, online marketplaces, event ticketing, donations/giving, and financial services.  In 2020, Spreedly’s customers and payment service partners completed over one million transactions per day via the Spreedly platform totaling over $20 billion annually. Backed by Spectrum Equity, with a $75M investment, Spreedly is experiencing its next wave of rapid growth.

You'll join the fast growing Product team and play a key role in establishing the practice of Product Operations at Spreedly. You'll work with the Product team to develop best practices for managing the Product tech stack, perform data analysis, facilitate product experiments, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across the company to advance our product-led vision.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product teams to gather product feedback, conduct experiments, and measure impact.
  • Advance Spreedly’s implementation of product experience tools (i.e. Pendo). Participate in product launches to optimize data collected upfront, and synthesize that data into insights.
  • Participate in the development of the company’s overall data strategy. Identify key data gaps, and work with engineering teams to complete the picture of product usage.
  • Build a durable, scalable Product information architecture. Implement a strategy to organize and optimize content for discovery, develop templates for re-use, and monitor stakeholder usage and consumption for impact.

Requirements

  • Currently has or pursuing a graduate level degree (e.g. Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Quantitative Management, Masters of Data Science, etc)
  • Prior experience working with data and product management tools such as Looker, Salesforce, Pendo, or Aha
  • Direct experience in a technology company
  • Bonus - Experience with eCommerce platforms, payments services, and/or API products

What we offer

  • Remote friendly work environment. Even our local employees are remote 3 days per week!
  • Tues./Thurs. are in-office days when we return to office - the rest of the week employees are free to work wherever they choose
  • Paid lunches on in-office days for local employees
This role is open to remote candidates, however preference will be given to candidates local to Durham, NC as well as in the eastern timezone.

Spreedly is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. We actively work to drive out even unintentional discrimination in our hiring processes via practices like blindly graded work samples, structured interviews, and diversity awareness training.

Due to the sensitive nature of what Spreedly does- handling payment data- candidates must complete a successful background check. If you have concerns along those lines, please discuss with us sooner rather than later- we do not want you to waste time in the hiring process and get disqualified at the end if we can help it.

Some of our positions are open to remote applicants. If this is the case it will be sited in the job posting just below the position name. Unless otherwise stated, remote positions are open to candidates in the contiguous US only. We are not set up to support remote employees from CA, NY, or outside the contiguous US. All applicants must have a US work visa.

Medium
senior manager product manager data science Feb 10
Here at Medium, we are building the best place for reading and writing on the internet—a place where today’s smartest writers, thinkers, experts, and storytellers can share big, interesting ideas; a place where ideas are judged on the value they provide to readers, not the fleeting attention they can attract for advertisers.

Medium started in 2012 as an elegant, blank canvas for anyone to share their thoughts or ideas with the world. Writers are core to our platform and germinate the discussions taking place in myriad communities across Medium’s network. On Medium, writers begin their journey by leveraging our network for reach, but quickly move towards establishing a distinct brand, building a loyal audience, and making money from their creative energy. As a Product Manager on the Creator Experience team you’ll work to intimately understand the needs of writers and build tools to help them define their brand, express their ideas, amplify their voice and engage their audience on the platform. You’ll work to significantly increase the number and quality of writers that choose Medium as their home, help new ones get discovered and support them on their path towards success.

What You'll Do:

  • Own and develop the product vision and roadmap for high-visibility products that enable creators to build a brand, express their ideas, and engage with their readers.
  • In collaboration with our UX team, conduct research into opportunities to design fair and transparent systems and help creators thrive. Synthesize research findings with learnings from User Happiness and Data Science to develop an opinion on the highest-impact initiatives.

Who Are You:

  • You have at least 4 years experience as a PM working on consumer web and/or mobile applications.

  • You have proven experience working collaboratively with design and engineering peers, and defining solutions with cross-functional partners. Bonus points if you’ve worked on large-scale social networks, products for the creator economy or vibrant communities.

  • You need autonomy to thrive - we trust our people, give them space to do their best and stay away from artificial deadlines
  • You enjoy spending time with your colleagues and learning from your peers - meet for Friday universities, annual offsites, virtual trivia nights and more
  • You like feeling cared about - watch out for the magical Christmas box delivered at home and an unforgettable onboarding week
  • You care about giving back - it’s what our Ikig.AI program is all about: Dataikers are encouraged to work pro bono for one or several nonprofits of their choosing
