Head of Technical Product Management
testing healthcare May 22
At Respondent, we believe in-depth research interviews are essential and are the oxygen to intelligent innovation. Our marketplace empowers entire organizations by connecting researchers with verified business professionals so they can conduct the kind of research interviews that yield invaluable results. With these new insights, high-quality decision making is scaled across their organization and innovation flourishes.

What you'll do

  • You will report to the CEO, and work closely with other leadership team members to develop and execute a product strategy that is aligned with customer needs and the company's mission
  • As head of product, you will exclusively own specific product KPIs like conversion and time to value which feed directly into hitting revenue targets. We are a product led growth company which means the product is responsible for driving revenue growth
  • You will work closely with engineering to develop product using an agile methodology
  • You deeply understand what Respondent’s vision, mission, and company goals are
  • You will drive and execute the product roadmap and will be responsible for prioritizing what we build in order to achieve the strategic goals and initiatives of the company

  • You will discuss technical implementation details with engineers and make trade-offs to strike a balance between meeting the customer needs and hitting deadlines and company goals
  • You will work across the product to collect needed data to make decisions. You have a scrappy, quick method for collecting data and make decisions with imperfect information.
  • You will be a liaison between product and engineering and work together to ensure engineering understands requirements
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer, and create processes to institutionalize the collection and incorporation of customer feedback and market research

Who you are

  • You understand how to work in an agile environment and know what it takes to iterate quickly. You recognize this is crucial to the success of the business
  • You have technical prowess and can navigate code so that you can best understand the technical limitations of a product
  • You can make sense of data and write queries for data analysis
  • You are constantly testing to prove hypotheses right or wrong. You embrace failure and do what it takes to reach the best outcome possible while also mitigating business-threatening risks
  • You are well aligned with Respondent’s company values and understand what these values mean in a real working environment
  • You are able to switch between tactical to strategic work with ease. You are energized by working on many different things at once and you are not afraid of occasional chaos
  • As head of product, you will sit in the leadership team and you will be expected to live up to Respondents leadership principles

Solutions Architect
python data science machine learning api healthcare May 08
At Hyperscience, we use modern machine learning to turn documents into machine-readable data. Our customers receive a wide variety of documents, like life insurance applications, paystubs, utility bills, insurance claims, that must be processed quickly and accurately to better serve the people at these organizations, and their customers. Amazingly, this is all done manually today. We’re on a mission to change that! Our product is already delivering value to large, blue-chip organizations in financial services and insurance, and we see a massive opportunity to expand to more industries and automate more business processes. We are looking for people who are excited to help us build upon this foundation and vision.

While at first this may not seem like a priority for a machine learning company, we see a huge opportunity in great user experience. Machine learning itself is not a product. While it’s a fundamental piece of our technology, it still must live in an ecosystem and be used by people. Human-in-the-loop is a powerful feature that allows us to do things like process anything, provide feedback loops for generating accuracy reporting, and on-demand model re-training. Our product works with people, and for people.

We're looking to grow our Engineering Team with the addition of a Solutions Architect.

As a Solutions Architect You Will Be:

  • The technical point of contact for the Customer Experience team when deep technical questions or issues arise from installing or using our product.
  • Creatively troubleshooting and solving problems given details from customers even when the initial answer is unclear.
  • Managing around-the-world engineering resources to diagnose and fix high priority escalations across multiple time zones and locations, facilitating information flow between the Customer Experience team and engineering as necessary.
  • Participating in customer calls which require more technical expertise.
  • Involved in architecture discussions and decisions when implementing new product features.
  • Leveraging your systems knowledge to deliver fast and scalable software, starting from the design of the system through development and extension.
  • Helping improve our code quality by writing unit tests and performing thorough code reviews.
  • Designing easy-to-use programmer interfaces and tools that will be leveraged by other developers, including APIs for our clients' developers.

Desired Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in building web-scale and/or enterprise-grade systems in different environments.
  • Strong ability to reason about data structures, complexity, and possible engineering approaches to a problem.
  • Experience with Python / Django is preferred, but experience with any mainstream language and framework is required.
  • Experience with distributed systems is a huge plus.
  • Experience with database systems, including SQL and/or NoSQL solutions is required.
  • Strong background in data science and mathematics is a plus.
  • Experience with customer service is a plus.
  • Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
  • Experience troubleshooting remote systems in a customer-owned environment with limited access is a huge plus.

What You Will Achieve:

  • Within your first 30 days:
  • You will get acquainted and eventually be fully comfortable navigating the full codebase, the technology stack, the development processes and org structure within the company.
  • You will learn the product and will make your first significant, user-impacting contributions to one of our products.
  • You will get to know our ML domain, codebase, and practical applications.
  • You will begin to troubleshoot customer escalations as they arise.

  • Within your first quarter and beyond:
  • You will be an integral part of the team and a driven, focused self-starter who can navigate a certain amount of ambiguity, and who is not afraid to take a sizable chunk of functionality, analyze it, break it down, implement it and then assume ownership and responsibility over it.
  • You will be taking an active role in discussions about possible solutions, different approaches, API designs and more.
  • You will decide when to bring in additional engineering help as necessary to handle escalations as necessary and help facilitate information flow between CX and engineering.
  • You will contribute to shaping the way customer issues and requests are handled within Hyperscience.

Benefits & Perks

  • Top notch healthcare for you and your family
  • 30 days of paid leave annually to help nurture work-life symbiosis
  • A 100% 401(k) match for up to 6% of your annual salary
  • Stock Options
  • Paid gym membership
  • Pre-tax transportation and commuter benefits
  • 6 month parental leave (or double salary to pay for your partner's unpaid leave)
  • Free travel for any person accompanying a breastfeeding mother and her baby on a business trip
  • A child care and education stipend up to $3,000 per month, per child, under the age of 21 for a maximum of $6,000 per month total
  • Daily catered lunch, snacks, and drinks
  • Budget to attend conferences, train, and further your education
  • Relocation assistance
Hyperscience provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. Product Marketing Manager
manager marketing manager healthcare May 04
Our health system is broken, and it’s a huge problem. Costs are rising out of control while the patient experience gets worse. To make big improvements, we need innovative solutions that make great care available at affordable levels. At Sana, we are passionate about fixing this problem.

To do this, we have built a new kind of health plan from scratch for employers and their employees. Our customers can offer rich benefits to attract and retain top talent while paying less than traditional plans. Sana uses proprietary technology to cut out waste and a novel financing structure that gives companies money back when claims are low, saving up to 30% on total costs.

Sana is in search of a Product Marketing Manager to help build its Marketing dream team from the ground up.  The role will work with our Demand Generation function to accelerate growth in all phases of the Marketing & Sales funnel by mapping our customer journeys and developing content that addresses the needs of each stage.  The right candidate will have several years of experience in B2B marketing, have built great relationships with both Product and Sales teams, love mapping customer journeys and creating compelling content.  You will have no trepidation about calling customers and prospects to get the feedback you need to fully understand those journeys and the content needed to serve them.  You love winning, have a positive attitude, and motivate those around you to do their best work.

The position is mostly remote, though some in-office work will be required.

What you will do

  • Create and hone product positioning and messaging derived from your research with prospects, customers, Sales, and Operations, as well as competitive research.  user research, market insights, and product understanding.  Bridge the gap between Product and Marketing by turning industry-speak and jargon into language that is immediately understandable to our prospects and customers and which resonates with them.
  • Own the production of Sana’s Marketing and Sales content.  Create a strategy for our content needs each quarter and for the fulfillment of those pieces.  Fulfillment will often be accomplished by producing them yourself (you should like to write),  but will also include managing production by internal stakeholders and outside contractors.
  • Develop a strong rapport with the Sales team, and deliver the assets they need to increase conversion rates at each stage of the Sales funnel.
  • Work with the rest of Marketing to develop customer lifecycle marketing campaigns, a content calendar, and go to market strategies.
  • Define the metrics that should be used to measure your value added, and work with BI to develop reports that show those metrics.
  • Be the point person for competitive analysis.  Understand where Sana stands in the competitive landscape, which strengths we should focus on currently in our Sales & Marketing efforts and which weaknesses we should prioritize with Product and Operations for improvement.

About you

  • You have 4+ years of experience in B2B Marketing roles, preferably within startups/smaller Marketing teams. You will wear many hats.
  • You love to write and are great at it. You have samples of blog posts, case studies, etc. that prove it.
  • You like talking to other people inside and outside the company. You have worked extensively with teams outside of Marketing to gather the requirements for the content you spearhead. You like picking prospects’ and customers’ brains about how they think about their problems, our products, and everything in between. You are energized by making presentations.
  • You’re a great communicator. First and foremost, this requires you to be a great active listener. Second, you are gifted at communicating complex ideas with succinct phrasing in both oral and written communications.
  • You are analytical. You can take apart business problems piece by piece to understand where to start looking for answers.
  • You’re a great teammate, both with other Marketing team members, and just as importantly with Sales (who will be your ultimate customer). You have a demonstrated history of working well with Sales teams.
  • You are invigorated by, rather than anxious about, being the first person to do something at your company. Sana is a startup, and the Marketing team is in its early days.  For the foreseeable future, you will spend much more time creating than optimizing.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Stock options in rapidly scaling startup
  • Flexible vacation
  • Medical, dental, and vision Insurance
  • 401(k) and HSA plans
  • Parental leave
  • Remote worker stipend
  • Wellness program
  • Opportunity for career growth
  • Dynamic start-up environment

Product Manager
manager healthcare Apr 24
A bit about us:

We’re on a mission to change healthcare — how it’s paid for, delivered, experienced. We want to put people center stage, not process or profit. We are guided by a deep belief that every person on Medicare should be treated like we would treat a member of our own family: with loving care and a profound commitment to their health and well-being.

That’s why we’re gathering a whole bunch of smart, big-hearted people to create a new kind of healthcare company — one that combines compassion, health insurance, clinical care, and technology seamlessly.

We want to throw the long ball with people we love for a cause we believe in. Life is short. Join us.

Why Devoted:

Make a difference... a big difference. You will have the opportunity, in a unique and dynamic culture, to be a part of something incredibly meaningful. We’re a disruptive startup with an inspiring mission. Learn and grow alongside our world-class team of healthcare, technology, and data leaders, dedicated to building a health plan and clinical services that care for everyone like they are family. Our team and board members have decades of experience in health care entrepreneurship, data, technology, services, and policy. Be part of building a health plan and clinical services operation that will give seniors easy access to the high-quality care they, and we all, deserve.

Ever wondered what it would take to build a solution to US healthcare from scratch?  Come here to find out, and make it happen.

A bit about this role:

We are planning to deliver the best care for consumers in healthcare- and that’s going to require some new and better tools, and some new and better data analytics.  Most healthcare teams don’t have the tools and data they want at their fingertips.  Their systems are siloed, high latency, and transaction focused… all of which make it difficult to move healthcare to a world where we pay for value and care for members seamlessly.
So while we are gearing up to deliver outstanding care, we are also building the tools that the whole industry needs to transition to better care instead of just more care.  This will be the first platform of it’s kind in healthcare.

We are looking for a seasoned Product Manager who knows consumer products and tools, understands which data to collect and pay attention to, and who is excited to take on complicated and challenging problems.  Someone who seeks to make something that is complex feel simple and intuitive. Our goal is to build technology which lets human interactions shine through; which provides the context and data needed, and then gets out of the way. In this role, you will create a vision for how the consumer experience can be transformed in healthcare, creating both customer satisfaction and better health outcomes through improved data and coordination.
Your teammates will be world class, and you’ll get to learn from the absolute best across the industry.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Create the vision for the platform which will bring customer support and payer systems into the 21st century, delivering the tools for reps and our doctors to deliver and simple and magical experience to consumers. Work with engineering, data, research, UX, operations, and sales to deliver this vision.
  • Define a set of KPIs to measure customer satisfaction and operational impact, and be able to analyze them and utilize them in decision making processes.  Drive continuous improvement to these KPIs.
  • Work with internal operations teams to transform their delivery model through the continuously evolving platform.

Attributes to success:

  • A super proactive “get it done” attitude, and the skills to back it up.
  • The uncanny ability to get everyone on the same page in a complex cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to manage a wide array of stakeholder groups, including the ability to listen and solicit carefully, and synthesize all their input into an action plan, then communicate it back to them and eventually, the whole company.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly articulate needs, objectives, priorities, and strategy in writing.
  • Comfort with the uncertainty inherent in a startup.
  • Deep desire to make US healthcare better.

Desired skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of product management or product development.
  • A proven track record of shipping products with business value.
  • A history of translating customer insights into tools that customers love to use.
  • Excellent communication skills — you will need to work with a highly cross-functional team.
  • Experience in operations, operations strategy, and engineering.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, or an enthusiasm to learn.
  • Proven track record of shipping products with proven business value.
  • A history of translating customer insight into recommendations that customers love to act on.
If you love running towards complex challenges and transforming them into solutions, if you want to make a potentially huge impact on many lives, and if you are looking for a disruptive startup with an inspiring and talented team, Devoted Health may be the place for you!

Devoted is an equal opportunity employer.  We are committed to a safe and supportive work environment in which all employees have the opportunity to participate and contribute to the success of the business. We value diversity and collaboration. Individuals are respected for their skills, experience, and unique perspectives. This commitment is embodied in Devoted’s Code of Conduct, our company values and the way we do business.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, the Company does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy status, marital status, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, genetic information, gender identity, gender expression, or any other factor prohibited by law. Our management team is dedicated to this policy with respect to recruitment, hiring, placement, promotion, transfer, training, compensation, benefits, employee activities and general treatment during employment.

  • Innovate new ways to make health benefits easier for members to use and understand
  • Collaborate with our Senior Product Designer to create visuals that fit within the Sana brand
  • Create new and improve upon existing digital features so they are functional, easy, and enjoyable for our members to use

  • Experience working in Sketch or comparable design software
  • Experience working with inVision or comparable prototyping tools

  • You're excited to help build something totally new and you're motivated by making a real, positive change to a stagnant industry

Sana is looking for a Demand Generation Manager to help build its Marketing dream team from the ground up.  The right candidate will have several years of experience in B2B marketing, be a master of marketing automation and email marketing, and have experience working closely with a Sales organization to break revenue records each quarter. You love winning, have a positive attitude, and motivate those around you to do their best work. The position is mostly remote, though some in-office work will be required.

What you will do

  • Be the master of our Marketing Automation Platform (MAP). Create and maintain marketing and operational flows in the MAP, and be the go-to person for executing strategies through that software.
  • Own the revenue goals for your channels of focus.  Meet and exceed those goals.
  • Understand our buyer personas and buyers’ journeys so that you can leverage them to send the right content to the right person at the right time.
  • All things around email acquisition.  Build emails, build campaigns, measure performance, maintain a clean email database, etc.
  • Create and maintain a testing framework to always be improving each aspect of the channels you own.
  • Create reporting that makes the results of your efforts clear to others across the company.
  • Work with Sales Ops to create and enforce Sales’ SLA’s, data gathering requirements, and attribution.
  • Seek out new marketing technologies, make business cases for the promising ones, and implement those that are approved.

About you

  • 4+ years of experience in marketing automation systems and email marketing. Similar experience in Salesforce CRM.
  • Experience in other B2B marketing channels - organic search, paid search, paid display, social, paid social, events, etc.A very competitive self-starter. You dream about moving your numbers up and to the right. You hate losing.

Director of Product

At Respondent, we believe in-depth research interviews are essential and are the oxygen to intelligent innovation. Our marketplace empowers entire organizations by connecting researchers with verified business professionals so they can conduct the kind of research interviews that yield invaluable results. With these new insights, high-quality decision making is scaled across their organization and innovation flourishes.

B2B companies like IBM, Oracle, Atlassian, Twillio, Microsoft, and many more choose to leverage Respondent to conduct their research interviews and make smarter business decisions.

We are a small, but quickly growing fully remote tech startup. Working as a distributed team allows us to hire the best talent regardless of location. We look forward to learning more about you and how you might fit into our thriving community of initiative-takers and diverse thinkers.

What you'll do

  • You will report to the CEO, and work closely with other leadership team members to develop a product vision and strategy that is aligned with customer needs and the company's mission.
  • As head of product, you will take ownership of hitting revenue targets. We are a product led growth company and we do not currently have a sales team who co-owns revenue targets.
  • You will work closely with engineering to develop product using an agile methodology.
  • You deeply understand what Respondent’s vision, mission, and company goals are. You will be required to link these with your quarterly and yearly objectives and key results.
  • You will assess Respondent’s competition and gain a deep understanding of our unique positioning and how we will enter and take ownership of the research industry.
  • You will own the product roadmap and will be responsible for prioritizing what we build in order to achieve the strategic goals and initiatives of the company.
  • You will determine what product KPIs are important and will constantly monitor and use marketplace unit economics to steer us toward long-term sustainable growth.
  • You will be responsible for defining the release process and coordinating all of the activities required to launch and take products to market.
  • You will own the creative process of generating, developing, and curating new ideas. You will determine which ideas should be promoted into features to push the product strategy forward — namely those that will achieve key objectives for the product and business.
  • You will conduct research with customers and stakeholders to define quick wins and longer term projects while always thinking about the ROI for Respondent.
  • You will discuss technical implementation details with engineers and make trade-offs to strike a balance between meeting the customer needs and hitting deadlines and company goals.
  • You will work across the product to collect needed data to make decisions. You have a scrappy, quick method for collecting data and make decisions with imperfect information.

Who you are

  • You have an in-depth understanding and obsession with product led growth, and have past experience working in a high quality product led growth environment.
  • You have been a part of a team who has grown product revenue from an early stage company through to a mid-stage.
  • You are entrepreneurial minded with a bias toward action and a willingness to take ownership. You operate like a business owner and think about the company holistically when making decisions.
  • You understand how to work in an Agile environment and know what it takes to iterate quickly. You recognize this is crucial to the success of the business.
  • You are constantly testing to prove hypotheses right or wrong. You embrace failure and do what it takes to reach the best outcome possible.
  • You are well aligned with Respondent’s company values and understand what these values mean in a real working environment.
  • You are able to switch between tactical to strategic work with ease. You are energized by working on many different fronts at once and you are not afraid of occasional chaos.
  • As director of product, you will sit in the leadership team and you will be expected to live up to Respondents leadership principles.
We are looking for someone who matches our level of joy for the work we do, brings something new to the team, and elevates our game. Our core values are very important to us and we hope they resonate with you, too. You can read more about them here!

Benefits
Working at Respondent is a unique experience. You will be part of a remote, diverse team. We care deeply about creating a cohesive, tight-knit culture that gets results. That’s why we offer our employees the following:

- Work remotely from anywhere in a continental US Time Zone (we are not able to accommodate continuous travel e.g. digital nomadism, remote year, etc.)
- A full office set up, including a MacBook Pro, desk, second screen, ergonomic chair, and wireless mouse & keyboard
- Health insurance for US-based employees covered at 99% for individuals and 50% for dependents (non-US employees receive a healthcare stipend)
- Short Term Disability covered at 100% for all US-based employees
- Parental Leave: 12 weeks fully paid leave with an additional optional 4 weeks unpaid
- Dental and Vision insurance offered at group rates to lower the cost for US-based employees
- Four weeks of flexible vacation (need a bit more for religious or country holidays--no problem!)
- 12 Paid holidays
- Stock options
- 401k (not matching) for US-based employees
- Company retreats for teammates to get to know one another in-person: our last two were in New Orleans and San Antonio!

We understand it takes a diverse team of highly intelligent, passionate, curious, and creative people to solve the challenges involved in Respondent's long term success. Our dynamic team members have incredible perspectives to share, just as we know you do, and we take great pride in being an equal opportunity workplace and encourage candidates from under represented backgrounds to apply.

Senior Backend Software Engineer
kubernetes grafana go backend senior cloud Mar 19

This is a remote opportunity and we would be interested in applications from a European or North Americas timezone (other time zones will be considered on a case by base basis)

We are looking for an experienced backend or system developer to join the Grafana Labs R&D team. Were hiring for a range of teams and projects which roll up into two high level groups:

Grafana

Grafanas backend runs on a high variety of hardware ranging from old Raspberry Pis to large enterprise clustered setups. Our backed plugins integrate with all kinds of databases. This requires thoughtful decisions regarding architecture, resilience and performance. We are also responsible for our hosted Grafana offering which operates thousands of Grafana instances on Kubernetes.

Grafana Cloud

Our Grafana Cloud pipeline moves millions of data points, log lines and traces per second from our customer's environments into a highly available, low-latency stack that processes and stores the data, and serves it to dashboards and alerting tools. We aim to grow this to hundreds of millions per second, and it's critical that as we grow, we improve our performance, increase our reliability and do it all more efficiently.

If you are shortlisted for an interview by the team well discuss the projects and your areas of interest in more detail during the early stages of our interview process.

Backend engineering roles at Grafana require engineers with a passion for performance, reliability, and who enjoy taking projects from conception to production.

We have some of the best engineers from the monitoring space working on these problems and they want to work with you.

Since we deploy production services, we have on-call rotations to ensure the health of the system. We dogfood our own services so being on call is an important way to understand our system and how to use the products we create.

Our culture is one of remote-first, and our engineering organization is largely remote. We provide guidance and meet regularly using video calls, and we need people who can work independently and can communicate well. Even if you are located near one of our small offices, working from home is both common and encouraged. Our teams also plan in-person team building meetups and also gather to attend industry conferences.

We care deeply about open source and the projects generally are open source, check them out: https://github.com/grafana.

We primarily use Go.

Benefits

  • Flexible hours
  • Flexible location (EU or North American time zone preferred)
  • The equipment you need to get the job done
  • Generous vacation policy of 30 days per annum with national holidays in your country of residence on top
  • Grafana operates in 24+ countries. We try to operate as one team and focus on global benefits which our whole team can enjoy. Inevitably there are some regional variations and we discuss the benefits offered in your country of residence through our interview process.
  • We offer a competitive healthcare plan (Medical, Dental & Vision) for our US based employees via our co-employer JustWorks.
  • We offer a 4% employer contribution match on our 401K/pension plans or a one time 4% salary increase after 6 months tenure depending on your location
  • Help us change the world and overtake proprietary monitoring vendors with open source software.

node-js api typescript microservices integration senior Mar 04
Are you an experienced Software Engineer interested in engineering software solutions at scale to make healthcare data, currently siloed within thousands of bespoke healthcare systems, more universally useful?  Do you have a passion for architecting, designing, and developing modern API software solutions to transform and stream data through a multi-tenant platform?

At Redox, our engineers combine their passion for solving complex problems with their desire to disrupt how healthcare data is exchanged. We take on the most challenging issues that slow down the adoption of technology in healthcare and prevent the world’s scientists, engineers, and innovators from making healthcare data useful!

We understand that we are all patients, and our mission is to make healthcare data useful and every patient experience better. Our values represent the basis of our culture of trust, transparency, and personal growth and define how we want to interact with each other and the world.

Redox’s full-service integration platform accelerates the development and distribution of healthcare software solutions by securely and efficiently exchanging healthcare data. With just one connection, data can be transmitted across a growing network of more than 500 healthcare delivery organizations and more than 200 independent software vendors. Members of the Redox Network exchange more than seven million patient records per day, leveraging a single data standard compatible with more than 40 electronic health record systems. Our number of client connections is projected to grow at a rapid pace and we need to continue to build applications that scale accordingly.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Our applications provide ingress and egress pathways that are responsive to the communication and data format needs of our customers, all while being resilient to our scaling needs to process millions of records per day. Our engineering teams own their solutions, enjoying the autonomy to design and implement the technical solutions to the hard problems presented by the myriad ways of exchanging healthcare data. A sampling of the technologies we use to implement these solutions include:

    • Libraries and µ-services built using TypeScript/NodeJS
    • Data management using Postgres, Kafka, and Redis
    • Horizontally scalable containerized deployments using Docker, Rancher, and Kubernetes
    • Application monitoring using InfluxDB, Grafana, and SumoLogic

An impactful engineer has the opportunity to:

      • Collaborate with other team members to continue to scale our architecture, taking into account the needs of today while remaining flexible enough to evolve for the needs of tomorrow
      • Work within a µ-service architecture, creating new solutions and decomposing our existing monolith
      • Own projects from end to end, executing on designs involving multiple fellow engineers
      • Participate in all phases of the SDLC - from requirements, design, and development through testing, deployment, maintenance, and support
      • Create RESTful APIs that adhere to best practices, as well as build out tolerant async models of communication
      • Understand the tension between an ideal end state and delivering value quickly and effectively prioritize between those options
      • Bias towards action while solving the biggest problems in sight

Your day to day will consist of:

    • Pairing with other team members, embracing a culture of collaboration and mutual respect to solve complex problems
    • Designing solutions to feature requirements as prioritized by Product Management
    • Implement solutions through the entirety of the SDLC, including testing, deployment, and operationalization
    • Create generic solutions to complex problems
    • Reviewing fellow engineer’s code prior to shipping
    • Troubleshooting production issues as they arise and building a more fault-tolerant system

Preferred Experience:

      • 5+ years professional software development experience in one or more modern general purpose languages (Javascript/Typescript, C#, Java/Scala, etc). Your day to day development will be spent working with NodeJS and TypeScript, but we are more interested in your ability to solve problems than the language used to solve those problems.
      • Strong experience in server-side development within data-intensive applications
      • Experience writing horizontally scalable applications
      • Experience working with relational data stores
      • Experience integrating with 3rd party APIs
      • Strong desire to expand your professional impact and autonomy
      • Healthcare IT
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including pairing
      • Effectively give and receive feedback, both positive and constructive
      • Operate effectively on a remote team
      • Experience leading a team is a PLUS

It is not expected that any single candidate would have expertise across all of the areas outlined above. Please apply even if you are not sure you meet all these criteria. If you are interested in the role and think it could be a fit, we'd like to hear from you.

Site Reliability Engineer
Zapier
python mysql healthcare y-combinator Feb 27

Hi there!

We are seeking a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer to join our team!   Working with our existing SRE team, you'll improve application reliability by using a software engineering approach to operations. You'll develop internal tools and systems for all engineering teams to use. Using site reliability principles and a robust approach to observability, you will not only fix problems but solve the issues that contributed to them when things go wrong.

This position works closely with Release Engineering and other engineering teams in our System's Zone to develop and maintain the tools and systems that support all of Zapier engineering. This role calls upon a broad range of experience and technologies. You'll get to interact with every engineering team in the organization. Maintaining excellent relationships and communicating effectively with those teams regularly is key to success.

Zapier is rapidly scaling and growing, and you will work directly on the applications that support over 5 million customers. When bad things happen, you'll have the support of your team to solve contributing causes, to learn from failures, and to build a robust and resilient system for our customers.

Building new features and services is a big part of this role. We are continually developing and implementing new ways to support our teams, understanding our customers needs, and becoming experts in site reliability.

If you’re interested in taking your career to the next level at a fast-growing and profitable startup, then read on.

About You

We're looking for an experienced engineer who is eager to use software development approaches to operations. You should have a breadth of experience in software development, operations, and be actively practicing site reliability principles. There is a lot to learn, and we're continually improving our approaches to SRE. There are plenty of learning opportunities. We don't expect you to know it all.

Ideally, you'll have several years of experience in practicing infrastructure as code, including using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and using platforms like Kubernetes. Well-honed experience with the fundamentals of software development goes a long way here. Python and Go, we do it all. Generalists thrive in this role.

Writing is our primary means of communication, from pull requests, team chat, knowledge sharing, and communicating changes. Excellent writing skills are crucial to success here at Zapier. We are 100% remote and commonly work asynchronously. We even wrote a book on it.

You should feel comfortable taking a default to action. Most decisions are changeable. It's better to deliver something real today over something maybe better later. Sharing context, goals, objectives, and in-progress work in public helps us all achieve a common goal.

Things You’ll Do

  • Develop new methods for retaining task history
  • Migrating applications and services from EC2 to Kubernetes
  • Write custom Kubernetes controllers to improve resilience
  • Create deployment pipelines in ArgoCD
  • Develop autoscaling strategies to handle bursts in workloads
  • Implementing OPA to enforce policies across our Kubernetes Clusters
  • Deploying ProxySQL for pooling connections against MySQL databases
  • Have an enormous impact working closely with teams across the organization. Be an advocate for site reliability principles.
  • As a part of our All Hands Support initiative, help customers have the best possible experience with Zapier

About Zapier

Zapier helps people across the world automate the boring and tedious parts of their job. We do that by helping everyone connect the web applications they already use and love.

We believe that there are jobs a computer is best at doing and that there are jobs a human is best at doing. We want to empower businesses to create processes and systems that let computers do what they are best at doing and let humans do what they are best at doing.

We believe that with the right tools, you can have big impact with less hassle.

We believe in small teams. Small teams are fast and nimble. Small teams mean less bureaucracy and less management and more getting things done.

We believe in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. All teammates at Zapier agree to a code of conduct.

The Whole Package

Location: Planet Earth

Our distributed environment lets us work with the best people. You don't have to be located in the USA either. Some team members live in the United Kingdom, Thailand, India, Nigeria, Taiwan, Guatemala, New Zealand, Australia, and more! You just need the skills and drive to succeed in this role and the ability to work from anywhere.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary (we don't use remote as an excuse to pay less)
  • Great healthcare + dental + vision coverage*
  • Retirement plan with 4% company match*
  • Profit-sharing
  • 2 annual company retreats to awesome places
  • 14 weeks paid leave for new parents of biological or adopted children

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us, even if we don't seem like a good fit. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to make sure you never go more than seven days without hearing from us.
