Full Stack JavaScript Software Engineer

Why IDS?

Today’s virtual training environments are segmented and simplistic—the opposite of the real-world’s complex and integrated cyber battlefield. When even the most subtle input can influence every other facet of an operation, the one-dimensional training provided to our armed forces is not only outdated, it flat-out fails to equip them to outpace the operational tempo of the rapidly-evolving multi-domain battlefield. In the virtual arena, new threats emerge every day. IDS provides the tools for warfighters and cyber operators not just to prepare for them, but to anticipate the risks and to be ready for them when they arrive.

Social Media Environment and Internet Replication (SMEIR™), a product of IDS International Government Services, is a digital training solution that provides a full-range, free-play, immersive, realistic and scalable operational practice environment in which warfighters simultaneously train on full-spectrum cyberspace operations and social media analytics during integrated and multi-dimensional exercises.

IDS International is seeking a Mid to Senior level Full Stack JavaScript Software Engineer to join our growing team and build out the next generation of our internet simulation platform, called SMEIR. The Software Engineer will replicate various websites and social media platforms that will be used for cyber-training exercises. IDSI’s engineering team uses a modified Scrum/Agile process. Candidate must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. IDSI uses Slack, Jira and Git for project and software management. Our main office is in Arlington, VA with remote opportunities available for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Use software development languages including Javascript, Node.js, SQL and tools to write, edit, maintain, and test computer software as part of a synthetic cyberspace training environment.
  • Follow the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to plan, design, build, test, and deploy software applications, ranging from websites and mobile applications to web applications, video games, and back end API architecture.
  • In addition to creating new software, improve and maintain the working order of existing software.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience with:
    • JavaScript (ECMA)
    • Node.js
    • HTML5/CSS3
    • Building and using RESTful APIs
    • Git
    • Familiarity with Microservice Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional, related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with:
    • Meteor.js
    • MongoDB
    • React.js
    • Docker
    • Kubernetes
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
  • Dev/Ops Experience with Linux, BASH, Python.

IDS’s competitive benefit package starts you off out on the right foot. Eligibility begins day one.

  • Health and Well-being - 100% of employee medical and other insurance premiums are paid by IDS.
  • Financial Future – 401(k) with an industry leading match and no waiting period. You are fully vested in all contributions from the start.
  • Paid Leave - Generous time off accruals for you to take paid leave, totaling five weeks.
  • Professional Development – networking opportunities, informal mentoring, education reimbursement and access to thousands of online professional development resources.
  • Casual, fun, and supportive work environment with all the tools and amenities you need to thrive.

Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. Most positions require ability to work on a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time. Computer activities include reading, reviewing and analyzing information, as well as providing recommendations, summaries, and reports in written or verbal format. Additionally, positions require ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; as well as speak and hear.

About The Role: Kitces.com is hiring a Lead Developer/System Architect to be responsible for architecting and developing the technology that underlies the Kitces.com platform (currently built on WordPress). While this is not necessarily a “big data” project, building for efficiency and future scalability are critical. You will be our first full time dedicated developer but will continue to work with contract developers who have experience on the platform.

We will rely heavily on you to help us determine what technologies we should use to build this new backend. Specific languages, databases, or other software have not been settled on so this is a great opportunity to set a totally new foundation for our application.

Further description of annual responsibilities are indicated below.

That’s where YOU come in: Helping us sustain this incredible growth, by building out the platform. You’ll be helping us build out an enterprise-class analytics platform, which will pull data from a variety of sources, to help us track and show growth in human potential.

About SpiderOak

We want to change the world, and we’ve already done it once. SpiderOak has been building encrypted software since before the first iPhone was released.

SpiderOak is committed to building secure and reliable software that protects our customers’ data. Our approach is fundamentally different from most mainstream security companies. Instead of adding layers of security on top of an insecure system, we build software that is inherently secure.

How are we different?

SpiderOak builds need-to-know technology that supports customers working in hostile environments. Traditional systems trust IT infrastructure to maintain the whole security system, even though the news is rife with evidence that this model does not work. Our software combines end to end encryption with a distributed ledger (aka Blockchain) technology to offer best-in-class security with no backdoors.

The Distributed Ledger, SpiderOak Model

A distributed ledger approach can provide compartmentalization of data that does not suffer from a single point of failure and is both fast and cost-effective. Compartments are defined using an irrefutable distributed ledger, enabling complete confidence in who is allowed to participate. Once the list of allowed users is defined, it becomes easy for those parties to negotiate shared encryption keys to secure the data being collaborated on.

Our approach allows for the instant provisioning of cryptographically secure collaboration spaces for use in scenarios where certainty about who has access to that space is a mission requirement.

About SpiderOak Engineering

Our Engineering team is comprised of passionate and creative people who are committed to the premise that complexity is the enemy of security. The problem of security will not be solved by layering on more band-aids, e.g. firewalls, packet inspection, two-factor authentication, etc... these actually add complexity by increasing the attack surface. We take a fundamentally different approach by removing the need to trust your infrastructure or your admins through the combination of

  • Zero-trust systems and applied cryptography
  • Distributed ledger

Our platform and applications – built on Go – enable our customers to collaborate and communicate securely, and we’re looking for growing the team to help us turn this ambitious vision into reality. Our culture is focused on productivity and creativity, and we’re committed to collaboration with our colleagues across the organization.

Job Description

Rather than bore you with a long description, let’s cut to chase: your job is to create user interfaces using ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML and other front-end technologies. Integration examples currently include: networking, crypto, key store, file management, and push notifications… but the list might grow as the user needs evolve.

NOTE: Given the nature of our work, candidates must be US Citizens residing in the United States.

Trello Support Engineer

html css Jun 01
Atlassian is continuing to hire for all open roles with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.

Customer support at Trello is different.

To start with, we let our customers decide if they want to pay us or not. Seriously. If our customers are not amazingly happy, they get their money back with no questions asked. Our front line staff is empowered to make our customers happy. Usually, it means tapping a broad range of resources, whether that’s making sure you have all the right software or working directly with an engineer to troubleshoot a case. You’ll have what you need to get the job done.

You will not be glued to the queue. Sure, we need to get back to customers via email—that will always be there—but support is so much more than grinding through an inbox. This is a real problem-solving job. You’ll have an incredible amount of autonomy in determining how best to contribute your talents and skills to Trello. Think a short video will help customers get started? Make it. Want to write a script to help a customer with the API? Go for it. There’s plenty of room for creativity and technical exploration when it comes to better serving our customers.

The other side of support is working with the other teams at Trello. All of our teams—engineering, marketing, sales, etc—benefit from support's role in working directly with customers. It will be your job to determine how we can serve them as effectively as possible. This is no small task, especially when communication is happening asynchronously across time zones. For example, when working with the engineering team, you need to know when a bug can stay under the radar versus when you should sound the alarm.

Job summary:

We don’t want people to just use Trello, we want them to love it. We’re looking to add a person to our support team who is friendly, helpful, and already loves Trello. Your top priority will be to transform our users into super-fans. You’ll do this by:

  • Troubleshooting and answering their questions via email and social media
  • Configuring and troubleshooting SAML-based SSO setups with Trello Enterprise customers, both by email and over the phone when necessary
  • Relaying insights from customers on to our product team
  • Providing service status updates via our StatusPage and social media
  • Crafting documentation and other support materials that empower users to serve themselves
  • We use a variety of tools to ensure fluid communication between our customers, support, and the product team. These include email, social media, written documentation, video, internal chat, and Trello itself. Your ability to listen to customers, identify common themes, and communicate clearly will be incredibly valuable to our users and our team.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Trello and passion for the product
  • Previous experience providing email support as a primary job responsibility. You've done full-time professional email-based support before.
  • Experience with Enterprise-grade SAML configuration and/or troubleshooting, or equivalent technical experience in that area
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • The ability to communicate clearly and positively through written and spoken English
  • A broad creative or technical curiosity
  • Experience working independently—in some cases you will be the only team member working, based on the timezone. You’ll work within the standard working hours of the AEST timezone (we’re looking for coverage of the 9AM-5PM times across Australia, Australian Eastern Standard Time).

One or more of the following skills would also contribute to your role on the support team:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience working remotely, or on a heavily-remote team
  • Programming experience in any language
  • Proficiency in languages in addition to English
The Trello Support Engineer can be located in any of the following states within Australia: New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia.

We have two roles available in the Trello team in Australia.

More about you:

We believe a great candidate can hit that sweet spot between a technical and a customer-facing role. We don’t want people to just use Trello, we want them to love it. We’re looking to add a person to our support team who is friendly, helpful, and already loves Trello. Your top priority will be to transform our users into super-fans. You have a commitment to self-education on new technologies and are responsible for owning customer issues until resolution. You're a great fit if you have top-notch written and verbal communication skills, along with a comfort communicating with customers. You have basic Operation Systems knowledge (Mac and Windows), familiarity with reading console errors, and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated experience. You have a keen drive for urgency and "get sh!t done" attitude! You have passion, curiosity, energy, humor, and guts!

You’ll be comfortable using a variety of tools to ensure fluid communication between our customers, support, and the product team. These include email, social media, written documentation, video, internal chat, and Trello itself. Your ability to listen to customers, identify common themes, and communicate clearly will be exceptionally valuable to our users and our team.

More about our benefits

Whether you work in an office or a distributed team, Atlassian is highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some fantastic perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, flexible working options, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, an annual allowance to support your learning & growth, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and lots more.
