Senior Software Engineer
Pay: $135,000 - $150,000

CMS is looking for a Software Engineer to join the team. You’ll be joining an existing team to build a suite of tools to unify the beneficiary experience across online Medicare properties.
The CMS team is building:
A Consistent Header to give all Medicare sites the same top-level navigation.
A Message Center to give beneficiaries access to important communications about their Medicare coverage.
A Core API to provide a single API front end to a number of disparate information sources.
[Future] A revamped Medicare account management site (MyMedicare) for beneficiaries to access and update their Medicare account information
A bit about CMS:
The project is run out of CMS’s Office of Communications (OC), who run all public-facing Medicare and Healthcare.gov projects.
One main requirement for the Core API and Message center backend is to integrate with a number of other systems, including BEDAP, GovDelivery, and others. This adds to some of the technical challenges, and also provides opportunities to coordinate across multiple teams.
The team works on a Node.js and TypeScript stack, employing a suite of AWS tools including DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda, and Redshift.
Our stakeholders are engaged and helpful, and at this point very familiar with agile delivery. We operate within the eMedicare SAFe program.
Additional details about the role:
Node experience is required.
Working within AWS environment is a plus; TypeScript, API development and Jest all strong pluses
Salary Range: $135,000 - $150,000
● Residency: Lived in United States at least 3 years out of the last 5 years
● Clearance: Able to attain and maintain Public Trust clearance or higher
(An active green card or citizenship is required).
