About the Role:

Confluent is seeking an experienced sourcing professional with a strong procurement and strategic sourcing background to join our fast-growing company.  The Strategic Sourcing Manager will report to the Head of Procurement and support strategic sourcing activity across all business units.  This role will be responsible for strategic sourcing and negotiations that support our business partners, optimizing spend within their assigned budgets.  They will also develop scalable sourcing processes and strategies to control and reduce spend across the company. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will have strong attention to detail, is well organized, analytical and must be able to perform well in a fast-paced tech environment.  This position will need to collaborate frequently with colleagues across all departments and geographies and will require strong interpersonal and communication skills.  A dedication to providing excellent customer service is a must. 

This position is remote.

What You Will Do:

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across Confluent
  • Lead supplier engagement processes including conducting vendor due diligence, RFx, negotiations and vendor management across a variety of categories
  • Develop, implement and manage sourcing for spend categories
  • Drive continuous supplier improvement strategies and initiatives to reduce cost, improve quality and lower total cost of ownership
  • Develop analytical processes, performance improvement and savings metrics to monitor and track progress against defined targets
  • Implement industry-leading supplier management, procurement and category management practices
  • Prepare and manage sourcing documents, contracts, and related procurement documents
  • Establish collaborative and strong relationships with Accounting, Finance, Legal, Business Systems Teams and IT teams to develop sound operational processes
  • Help build a strategic sourcing function by formalizing processes and implementing tools
  • Manage, coordinate and support special projects as needed

What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years experience in a Procurement or Strategic Sourcing function
  • Bachelor’s degree required in a quantitative business discipline, MBA preferred
  • Experience procuring a diversified range of products and services
  • Experience with Coupa, Ironclad, Netsuite or similar ERP systems, a plus
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and reporting skills   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and improve end-to-end processes
  • Proven ability to work with and build successful relationships with business stakeholders
  • Has experience working for start-up, high-growth and fast paced companies. Technology environment preferred.
