Accounts Payable Manager

Full Time

Responsible for overseeing the accounting and cash management operations for GOAT Group, the Accounting team is essential to each department and their respective business goals. The team collaborates with stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the financial health of the company through accurate and timely reporting, advising on business decisions, and ensuring payments to all parties arrive on time. In this critical role, you will join a group of strategic, detailed-oriented thinkers that thrive in a fast-paced environment while working cross-functionally to ensure the success of the company. 

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Manager to lead the AP function, managing day-to-day operations and owning the monthly AP close. This individual will be expected to problem solve, develop processes and improve existing ones, while communicating with external vendors and internal stakeholders.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure that invoices and payments are processed in accordance with terms, with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness to take advantage of any potential discounts and avoid penalties and/or interest.
  • Understand the full invoice to cash cycle to quickly identify the source of bottlenecks, problems and drive issues to resolution including impact and risk assessments, status reporting and more
  • Support the accuracy of Accounts Payable related general ledger accounts by ensuring that routine activities are being completed in a timely manner (e.g., payments are entered, credit memos are applied)
  • Review coding and subsidiary allocations for Accounts Payable invoices, credit card expenses, and petty cash posted to the General Ledger
  • Review banking support items for reconciliations, returned payments, positive pay exceptions
  • Manage and maintain the employee expense reimbursement process by ensuring that expense invoices are appropriately approved by department heads and paid accurately and timely
  • Research, resolve, and communicate invoicing issues, discrepancies, or outstanding balances on vendor accounts accordingly. Reconcile monthly vendor statements
  • Work closely with the Accounting team to ensure month-end accruals are properly recorded. Create and enter journal entries as necessary
  • Assist in the development and implementation of our continuous improvement strategy within AP
  • Ensure accurate reporting of Form 1099s annually
  • Perform and/or prepare ad hoc analysis, tasks and reports
  • Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit and quarterly reviews

We are looking for:

  • 5+ years of accounts payable responsibilities and continuous improvement/business analysis experience
  • Extensive knowledge about accounts payable procedures, as well as experience with accounting and management principles. Accounting degree preferred but not required.
  • Skilled team player with interpersonal skills and a tracking record of successfully working with cross-functional business stakeholders
  • Proven analytical and project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
  • Proven attention to detail and organization skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Bill.com and Netsuite preferred
  • Experience flourishing in an environment of fast growth and ambiguity
