Senior Software Development Engineer in Test
senior java python javascript ruby saas Jun 11

Contrast Security is the world’s leading provider of security technology that enables software applications to protect themselves against cyberattacks, heralding the new era of self-protecting software. Contrast's patented deep security instrumentation is the breakthrough technology that enables highly accurate assessment and always-on protection of an entire application portfolio, without disruptive scanning or expensive security experts. Only Contrast has sensors that work actively inside applications to uncover vulnerabilities, prevent data breaches, and secure the entire enterprise from development, to operations, to production.

About the Position

Contrast is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our growing engineering team, based in our office locations: Los Altos, CA, Baltimore, MD, or Belfast. (potential for remote in U.S.)

Our engineering team has a strong spirit of entrepreneurship. Every member has joined us over our 6 year history because he/she wants to be part of a high-performing team and go through the scale up experience. We look for candidates who share similar goals and beliefs about the work and the team they want to be a part of.

Our test automation engineers believe the reward for a job well done is another job. You would rather spend your time enabling engineering teams to more effectively write their own tests than write tests for them. You thrive in an environment where there is something new to learn with each major effort.

You’ll be landing with an engineering team with the goal of improving their unit testing coverage.  Maybe they need help mocking services? Maybe they need help just refactoring a large group of tests during a system upgrade? Maybe they need help starting a load testing practice? Our teams will ask. You will research, implement and train. Always improving our test coverage and automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with multiple agile teams to establish automated test metric goals and achieve them.
  • Work with teams to set up processes, patterns and standards to increase unit test coverage
  • Work with teams to automate high value performance testing (benchmark, load and stress) and API contract testing
  • Working with the Ops teams to test infrastructure as code
  • Contribute to our synthetic test infrastructure, running against our production SaaS systems for real-time awareness of product uptime and functional stability.
  • Build and maintain expertise in several languages and their testing tool sets over time.
  • Work cross-functionally within a service team and be a core contributor in every significant engineering solution that is delivered
  • Solid understanding of system design, including the operational trade-offs of various designs
  • Solid programming and troubleshooting skills. You may be called upon to help with systems written in Java, .NET, Ruby, Go, Python and Javascript. You won’t be expected to know everything, but we are looking for people who can dig through a codebase for debugging and commit tactical fixes opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • You don't love writing code, you love writing code that tests the code.
  • You have 5+ years in technology with at least three in a QA Automation Role or SDET
  • You have a passion for automation – a key team goal is to reduce daily toil through automation.
  • You love to break things, and you like to share how you did it.
  • You can find your way around a database, but you are better at mocking them.
  • You can demonstrate familiarity with common language frameworks. Java is preferred to start, but .NET, Ruby, Go, Python and Javascript are also key to our product offering.
  • You have a desire to make the Internet a safer place.
  • You have a passion for tools, testing frameworks, methodologies and implementations. You choose them based on the best fit for the problem at hand.
  • You approach problems from a product perspective, thinking through how the user will interact with what you're building.
  • You have strong communication skills. You ask questions, let others know when you need help, and tell others what you need. You write things down so someone else on your team can do them.
  • You're a problem solver. You believe the best work results from finding the simplest solution to complex challenges. We see simplicity as the greatest expression of intelligence and responsibility.
  • You see the big picture. You understand how the code you write interacts with systems and services, both internally and externally.

What we offer:

  • Competitive Compensation
  • In-office Lunches
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k)
  • Flexible paid time off
We are changing the world of software security. Do it with us.
We believe in what we do and are passionate about helping our customers secure their business. We work hard, and we have fun doing it.
Solve the impossible. Easy = boring.

If you’re looking for a fun work environment and like a challenge, you’ll love Contrast Security.

Demand Generation Manager

Our health system is broken, and it’s a huge problem. Costs are rising out of control while the patient experience gets worse. To make big improvements, we need innovative solutions that make great care available at affordable levels. At Sana, we are passionate about fixing this problem.

To do this, we have built a new kind of health plan from scratch for employers and their employees. Our customers can offer rich benefits to attract and retain top talent while paying less than traditional plans. Sana uses proprietary technology to cut out waste and a novel financing structure that gives companies money back when claims are low, saving up to 30% on total costs.

Sana is looking for a Demand Generation Manager to help build its Marketing dream team from the ground up.  The right candidate will have several years of experience in B2B marketing, be a master of marketing automation and email marketing, and have experience working closely with a Sales organization to break revenue records each quarter. You love winning, have a positive attitude, and motivate those around you to do their best work. The position is mostly remote, though some in-office work will be required.

What you will do

  • Be the master of our Marketing Automation Platform (MAP). Create and maintain marketing and operational flows in the MAP, and be the go-to person for executing strategies through that software.
  • Own the revenue goals for your channels of focus.  Meet and exceed those goals.
  • Understand our buyer personas and buyers’ journeys so that you can leverage them to send the right content to the right person at the right time.
  • All things around email acquisition.  Build emails, build campaigns, measure performance, maintain a clean email database, etc.
  • Create and maintain a testing framework to always be improving each aspect of the channels you own.
  • Create reporting that makes the results of your efforts clear to others across the company.
  • Work with Sales Ops to create and enforce Sales’ SLA’s, data gathering requirements, and attribution.
  • Seek out new marketing technologies, make business cases for the promising ones, and implement those that are approved.

About you

  • 4+ years of experience in marketing automation systems and email marketing. Similar experience in Salesforce CRM.
  • Experience in other B2B marketing channels - organic search, paid search, paid display, social, paid social, events, etc.A very competitive self-starter. You dream about moving your numbers up and to the right. You hate losing.
  • You are analytical.  You can take apart business problems piece by piece to understand where to start looking for answers.
  • You’re a great teammate, both with other Marketing team members, and just as importantly with Sales (who will be your ultimate customer). You have a demonstrated history of working well with Sales teams.
  • You are invigorated by, rather than anxious about, being the first person to do something at your company. Sana is a startup, and the Marketing team is in its early days.  For the foreseeable future, you will spend much more time creating than optimizing.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Stock options in rapidly scaling startup
  • Flexible vacation

  • 401(k) and HSA plans
  • Parental leave
  • Remote worker stipend

That’s it. That may come across as simplistic, but that simplicity is at the core of who we are—heartfelt people, focusing on what matters. If that sounds like you, we can’t wait to hear from you!

You would rather spend your time enabling engineering teams to more effectively write their own tests than write tests for them. You thrive in an environment where there is something new to learn with each major effort.

Imagine landing with an engineering team with a goal of improving their unit testing coverage.  Maybe they need help mocking services? Maybe they need help just refactoring a large group of tests during a system upgrade? Maybe they need help starting a load testing practice? Our teams will ask. You will research, implement and train.  When you are done with that job, a new one will await you with another of our teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multiple agile teams to establish automated test metric goals and achieve them.

About You

  • You have 5+ years in technology with at least three in a QA Automation Role or SDET
  • You love to break things, and you like to share how you did it.
  • You’re a storyteller with compelling stories about that time you learned something new in order to solve a problem for your company, and stories about the times you helped your team mates skill up.
  • You have powerful stories about the failures and mistakes you’ve made and the lessons learned. You share them as cautionary tales with your team mates.
You choose them based on the the best fit for the problem at hand.
  • You approach problems from a product perspective, thinking through how the user will interact with what you're building.
  • You have strong communication skills. You ask questions, let others know when you need help, and tell others what you need. You write things down so someone else on your team can do them.
  • You're a problem solver. You believe the best work is the result of finding the simplest solution to complex challenges. We see simplicity as the greatest expression of intelligence and responsibility.
  • You see the big picture. You understand how the code you write interacts with systems and services, both internally and externally.

  • Competitive compensation
  • Daily in-office team lunches
  • Meaningful stock plans
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Flexible paid time off

German-speaking Support Engineer
Remote, up to UTC +/- 2

Our Snowplow Insights offering has grown significantly over the last year, and we now orchestrate and monitor the Snowplow event pipeline for nearly 200 customers, many of them processing billions of events per month. The support that we provide to our customers is a core part of the Snowplow Insights offering, and we strive to provide the best technical support of any analytics vendor.

We have implemented a full “follow the sun” support model at Snowplow, with our six Support Engineers working in six well-distributed time zones (East & West Coast US, Canada, Spain, Portugal, Russia). We are now looking to hire an additional Support Engineer in a central European timezone, in the UTC +/- 2 time zone range.

This is a Support Engineering role - not a Support Agent role. We are looking for candidates who can learn, troubleshoot and explain the many complex technical systems that make up the Snowplow offering. We expect you to have an analytical mind, a high level of customer empathy and an enthusiasm for improving processes and systems. Depending on where your passions lie, there is a path from Support Engineering at Snowplow into Customer Success, Implementation Services, Tech Ops or Engineering.

Responsibilities for our Support Engineer will include

  • Handling customer tickets in Zendesk, resolving if possible or escalating further to our Customer Success, Implementation Services, Tech Ops, Engineering or Product teams.
  • Handling Snowplow pipeline incidents in OpsGenie, communicating the failure to our customers and either resolving if possible, or working with the customer and/or Snowplow teams to resolve.
  • Providing help to the open-source Snowplow community in our Discourse forums.
  • Working with customers on regular support tasks including: upgrading their Snowplow pipelines; sharing security best practices; enabling new Snowplow features for their account.
  • Creating playbooks, documentation and software to reduce your support workload even as we add more customers.
  • Collaborating with Snowplow teams on bug fixes and new features for both our open source projects and our proprietary orchestration and monitoring technology.
  • Constant awareness of open and ongoing issues and actively checking and updating open tickets.

Excellent customer support is at the core of Snowplow’s commercial offering. You will join the support rotation, and take on an agreed number of evening and weekend support hours (compensated both in money and time). While the ongoing Snowplow Insights support commitment is the first priority, our Support Engineers will regularly take full days to work on projects that are strategic for the Support team or wider company.

Being in the European timezone, you will have regular opportunities to interact with the wider company, including at Snowplow’s office in London, our company Away Weeks and at our various meetups across Europe.

The environment you’ll be working in

Our company values are Transparency, Honesty, Ownership, Inclusivity, Empowerment, Customer-centricity, Growth and Technical Excellence. These aren’t just words we plucked out of thin air, we came up with them together as a company and are continually looking to find new ways to weave these into our day to day operations. From flexible hours and working locations to the way we give feedback, we’re passionate about building a company that supports both company and individual development.

We’d love to get to know you if

  • You can speak both German and English. With an expanding European customer base, it's important that we're able to support them in both German and English.
  • Data or programming is your thing! This role would be a great fit for somebody who has completed an analytically rigorous degree or programming bootcamp, or has experience in programming, QA or other automation.
  • You enjoy helping people. You communicate with clarity and empathy.
  • New programming language? You’re on it! You have a broad technical curiosity and proven technical understanding.
  • Broader business challenges interest you. Snowplow customers are highly technology- and>I have an idea! You have a passion for problem solving.
  • Can we automate? Yes, we can. You will be constantly working with customers and internal Snowplow teams to solve Snowplow Insights problems in as effective, time-efficient and repeatable way as possible - you must love troubleshooting.
  • Process makes perfect. You have a mature attitude to security, documentation and process.
  • Reliability is key. Snowplow Insights customers trust us with their event pipelines and AWS and GCP accounts - this is a huge responsibility and informs everything we do.

What you’ll get in return

  • A competitive package, including share options
  • 25 days of holiday a year (plus bank holidays)
  • MacBook or Dell XPS 13/15
  • Freedom to work wherever suits you best
  • Two fantastic company Away Weeks in a different European city each year (the next one is in Bratislava in November!)
  • Work alongside a supportive and talented team with the opportunity to work on cutting edge technology and challenging problems
  • Grow and develop in a fast-moving, collaborative organisation
  • Convenient location in central London (Shoreditch)
  • Continuous supply of Pact coffee and healthy snacks in the office when you’re here!

Snowplow is dedicated to building and supporting a brilliant, diverse and hugely inclusive team. People Development Manager
ops healthcare Oct 19 2019

Your Job

  • You are part of our People Ops Team, (currently 3 people) working on enabling our growth through feedback processes, onboarding, our transparent salaries, team structures, and other tasks beyond hiring new colleagues.
  • You will be our direct contact person for all employees regarding their individual development. As we believe that no two people are the same and that there is no “one fits all” solution, “individual” is the keyword here.
  • You’ll work closely with the MoCs (Master of Ceremonies) of our teams and help them on their road to continuous improvement. You are the people person for those teams when it comes to moderation of retros as well as a sparring partner for people issues. We encourage self-organization a lot, but if there is a need for your support, you are there.
  • You foster our self-organization throughout the company, enabling individuals and teams to make their own decisions with confidence, allowing the company to remain a group of individuals walking in the same direction. Nobody is left behind. You ensure this structure is under constant review and communicated in a way that makes it understandable for all involved.
  • You will work with diverse parties of the organization on topics such as team development, self-organisation, individual growth, responsibilities and accountability. We strongly believe in agility and want to continue being at the forefront of the new work era. All your initiatives need to fit in our remote and agile context.
  • To learn more about how we work, you can check out the Inside Giant Swarm Blog Posts: https://blog.giantswarm.io/inside/

Requirements

  • You have at least 5+ years experience in working in People Operations (or in an agile consulting company) and you’ll survive the fact that we really like iterating. We will never have a final plan, knowing that things that work today won't work tomorrow. Uncertainty is your motivator.
  • You can give proposals, and defend them when challenged, in a very self-organized environment where obviously everyone has an opinion about people topics as it affects us all.
  • You have been working in a startup environment and having worked remotely already is a plus as this will help you understand the challenges that come with working in this way, as few companies are currently organised this way
  • You’re happy to hop between individual (people) and organisation levels. In the beginning, it will be more organizational work.
  • You have a strong interest and at best you already have experience in agile methodologies. It would be great if you have already worked with software teams. Our purpose is to create similar structures in the entire company, so if you have experience there - great!
  • Being a certified coach and or scrum master is a big plus
  • You are happy with English as our company language

Why we think this job is worth applying (challenge us!)

  • Impact, Impact, Impact! We are a remote-first organization with a growing team (from 15+ European countries) Every new team member changes the team. This is great! People who know things we don’t are highly welcome.
  • “It's better to ask forgiveness than permission” (Paolini) - sure, it’s not 100% like this, but we have a strong culture of failure which, is part of our agile mindset. We don’t do things by the guidebook. You can try things out! Our default to 100% transparency will help you here.
  • Appreciation and trust are the columns for our People Operations work. We try not to use “new work” as a buzzword, we try to live it. Larissa, Mirco and Anna (your future colleagues can talk for hours about that ;))

WHY Giant Swarm?

We can give you a glimpse on how working with us will be like:

Self-organization

Creative work needs freedom and openness. We encourage you to do your work wherever and whenever you want. We expect passion and encourage sustainability. If you need rest, take it. We don't count holidays - we count outcome.

Teamwork

We are a growing company with 50+ team members distributed all over Europe and plans on expanding to the US. Our ambitious goals are only achievable as a team. Everybody’s input is highly welcome and appreciated. Although sometimes rules and processes are necessary, we try to keep them as lean as possible. Always question the status quo and find new ways of collaboration and team-work.

Learning

Learning is mandatory and fun at the same time. If you realize you want to expand your knowledge in a specific area, we support you with conferences, books etc.

Basics

We offer fair (transparent and open) salaries with benefits like choosing your own laptop, additional perks (for example, a location-aware, fixed amount paid each month to cover costs like co-working, phone contracts or gym memberships), paid parental leave and healthcare compensation are compulsory. And you will participate in our stock options program. Currently, our team members have more children than we are employees. So family-friendliness is a must.

We are not hiring job descriptions. We hire humans. :)

We welcome applications from everybody, regardless of ethnic or national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
