We are just as hungry and passionate as when we were 5 people in a derelict garage. Curious minds and execution experts will like our organizational maturity, love the entrepreneurial spirit, and stay for the inclusive culture.

Working here means revolutionizing how thousands of business owners, finance teams, accountants, and bookkeeping professionals across the globe handle everyday finance tasks like bill pay, expense management, and bookkeeping. We save our customers valuable time by acting as an automated layer on top of their accounting software.

About your new team
You'll be joining our expanding engineering team consisting of a mix of highly skilled Frontend, Backend, DevOps, Quality Assurance and Product team members. You’ll work closely with Product Program Managers, Customer Experience Managers and Developers.

We face challenges as a unit and pitch in whenever our help is needed. Whether we suffer defeat or rise triumphantly we offer honest feedback to keep growing professionally. While the organizational scale has changed, our agile way of working has not.

We're looking to expand our team with experienced developers who likes to lead, take responsibility, and motivate fellow team members to keep a high bar for quality, speed and security. You should be comfortable making decisions on the fly, as well as take the leading role in making sure the dev team is meeting deadlines and commitments.

You'll play a large role in developing new features and leading by example. Your educational background is less important as your previous professional experience, your drive, and your personality.

Responsibilities

  • Write clean, scalable and testable code
  • Develop new features and improve existing ones
  • Review and refactor code
  • Document development and operational procedures
  • Analyze system requirements and prioritize own tasks
  • Be a team player

  • Fullstack experience, mainly TypeScript/JS, HTML, CSS, React - not being afraid of doing front end work
  • Past experience working with GraphQL, Hangfire, and/or Aurora (MySQL)
The Stack
From a technical point of view, Roger's back-end is built on .NET with C#. On the front-end we work in TypeScript on the React framework, enabling us to build reliable web experiences that can handle high usage volumes. The product consists, among others, of a web application and a mobile application. It'll be the back-end that will have your main focus.

About (y)our values
Our values mirror our Scandinavian heritage. We are humble, fun, hard-working, and inclusive - today our team consists of more than 15 nationalities. We are constantly pushing the boundaries to make sure that everyone feels part of Roger, which is why we hire personalities - not resumes.

While we have physical offices we support remote work because we do not define talent geographically. You'll be part of a growing team, delivering value to our customers through creative improvements to Atlassian’s flagship product. You'll work closely with design and product management, influencing the direction of the product and helping the team get there.

Over the last 18 years, Jira has grown to become an industry-defining product for the world’s developers. Since then more than 100,000 organisations including a large swath of the fortune 500 have chosen Jira for its flexibility, customisability, extensibility and for helping them to make their work-flow. This has scaled Jira’s usage both horizontally, with more organisations embracing Jira, and vertically with more users, issues, projects, workflows etc in a single Jira instance. As the industry and our customers shift from on-premises to the cloud, we will ensure they have a magical experience in Jira Cloud regardless of their size. This makes the Jira Scale and Performance team critical to Jira and Atlassian.

You will use your deep technical skills to help guide and mentor other developers, product managers, and senior managers, ensuring the team understands the vision, and help realise that vision.

You bring a deep understanding of technology landscapes, and an ability to evaluate the use of new technologies, conduct effective reviews and communicate as the need arises. You are influential within your team and work with peers and senior leaders to define and revise the standards for operational excellence across Atlassian. You will consistently seek abstract issues that span multiple functional areas and drive your team to push for improvements that can scale across other teams, services, and platforms.

ON YOUR FIRST DAY, WE’LL EXPECT:

  • At least 6 years leading multiple features of a SaaS product at large scale with performance and reliability of at least 4 nines.
  • Strong experience with at least one public cloud system, ideally AWS
  • Proficient in challenges of distributed systems, modern cloud-native architectures, especially distributed search systems.
  • Fluency in any one database technology (e.g. RDBMS like Postgres and/or NoSQL like DynamoDB or Cassandra)
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Graduate degree preferred.
  • Real passion for collaboration and strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Desire to mentor and empower your colleagues on their growth journey

EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING IS HELPFUL:

  • Fluency with AWS Elastic Search or Lucene
  • Experience building architectures for search across large volumes of data

  • As a member of the cross-company cloud technical architecture group, you will propose and review architectures and designs for the solution and cross-cutting software capabilities.
  • You will periodically present technical direction to the CTO, the CTO Leadership Team (CLT) and other forums consisting of senior executives in the company.

The construction industry is one of the least digitised industries. This deters its ability to improve productivity.

We are building Resolve to fix that!

Our solution has world-class UX and human-centred design. We allow users to solve problems on the ground, while we collect site data. We will then perform advanced analytics using AI and Machine Learning to help deliver projects more effectively.

The next bit may seem a bit dramatic but our team exists so that we can work in a community that:

  • Connects us with meaningful relationships
  • Inspires us to develop ourselves to become better humans
  • Empowers us to learn new things just for the fun of it

With this we can achieve the highest levels of value for the customer, the industry and the world.

What are we looking for?

  •  You have extensive experience in Javascript and React.
  • You know the difference between npm and yarn.
  • You’re an experienced developer who follows best practices.
  • You’re a leader and want to develop those around you.
  • A passion for making things modular and future-proof.
  • You’re a problem solver, always looking for better ways to do things (you’ve probably written scripts to automate all kinds of tasks!).
  • You like to be involved in the whole life-cycle of developing features, from planning to deployment
  • Hands on. Persistent. Patient. Creative.

Why join us?

  • Full time pay but 4 day work week!
  • Performance/capability related salary - Pure meritocracy
  • We care about people (see previous section!) - We aren't a company, we are a team
  • Working closely with the founders in a tight knit team
  • You will be supported to excel in whichever areas you are most interested in. We think development should be unbounded!

Come and work with us! Send an email to joinus@laminarprojects.com.

We get hundreds of applications, so please include a short summary/cover letter explaining why you want to join us. We aren't a giant faceless corporation, we care about the people who want to join our team so all letters will be read by one of the founders.

Senior Program Management, Data Platform

senior saas cloud Feb 11
Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. All new and existing Atlassians will continue to work from home until it’s safe to return to our offices. When our offices re-open, we will provide the choice to work from home or return to work in an office unless a job requirement makes it necessary for a particular role to be performed at an Atlassian office.

Atlassian is seeking a Senior Program Manager in its Data Platform team to enhance our effectiveness by leading key technical programs, championing delivery success, and operationalising the platform development processes in order to make our delivery teams more effective.

R&D Program Managers at Atlassian build trusted networks, seek clarity and serve as the grease and the glue to ensure teams deliver complex cross-functional programs as seamlessly as single team projects.

The Data Platform team aims to give seamless federated access to all data across Atlassian, and we believe that all teams should have the ability to access secure data at speed and run ML and insights at scale.

Our team has enormous potential to increase the impact of every Atlassian cloud engineer, from those who work on our internal platforms to those who strive to improve the experiences of our fanatical end-users. But first, we need to empower our own engineering teams and enable them to do the best work of their lives.

More about the role:

Teams building Atlassian's major cloud products and platforms all rely on a robust, reliable platform to shepherd their code from development to production, while maintaining the high standards for our code quality and deployment practices.

You will understand the 'why' behind strategic plans and drive teams to execute on them. You will guide reporting mechanisms, craft communications for various audiences (including executives), set processes for cross team projects, and/or jump into a team to help connect and unblock teams.

To be successful in this role, you will build strong partnerships with the Engineering, Product, and Design leaders. You will engage with many cross-functional teams (with many varying perspectives!) and keep them aligned to satisfy the strategic plan. You will need to deeply understand Atlassian's priorities, and relate them to company level business goals. You're the center of team spirit, and you craft and implement pathways to up-level the teams working toward a common strategy.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who thrives in making order out of ambiguity. Alongside leaders and colleagues, you will develop and apply practices, plays, agile frameworks, enabling autonomous, empowered, and motivated teams.

More about you:

  • A passion for running complex cross-functional programs in a fast paced environment with many moving parts
  • Demonstrated excellence in working with leadership teams and have the ability to guide and challenge leadership teams as a true partner.
  • You are a progressive problem solver when it comes to Program Management and program effectiveness. You can think creatively and present strategic vision for operating excellence.
  • You’re a coach, a facilitator and a multiplier, passionate about software product teams, with a focus on teamwork and how we can work better together.
  • Experience with highly technical teams and skilled in anticipating risks and dependencies on technical programs.
  • A track record of translating technical requirements with engineers to break down, scope out, and prioritise tasks.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Relevant professional experience and demonstrated success as a Senior Program Manager within globally distributed teams.
  • An ability to mediate and make pragmatic compromises, and help set priorities appropriately across the business
  • A track record of setting appropriate expectations, crisp execution, and on-time delivery
  • An ability to balance priorities among the long-term vision and short-term execution strategy.
  • Experience in diagnosing problems for teams, moving them to good and going above and beyond to ensure they are great.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and are able to draw upon best practices, patterns and agile frameworks to build pathways for autonomous, empowered, and lasting teams for a Future Atlassian.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and ensure teams are driving toward delivery of high quality, operationally sound products and services.
  • Comfort with change and ambiguity, and creative thinking to adapt
  • Attention to detail: successful history of closing loops and delighting customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills adjusted for different audiences

It's great, but not required if you have:

  • Experience driving change management across a large, globally distributed, organisation.
  • Experience working on programs with Data platforms and Data-infrastructure teams in a large scale SaaS environment
More about our benefits

Whether you work in an office or a distributed team, Atlassian is highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some fantastic perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, flexible working options, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, an annual allowance to support your learning & growth, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and lots more.
