Senior UX/UI/CRO Designer & Developer for Digital Optimization
Metabolic Living   $75K - $150K
user-experience user-interface rest senior ux ui Jun 07

Were looking for the rare Leonardo da Vinci of A/B testing and CRO to join our world-class remote digital optimization team as a hybrid UX/UI visual designer and front-end developer all in one package. Yes, this is a highly unusual request to pack all these skills into a single uber-talented person, but we have a reason: weve found this is the fastest way to get high-quality testing ideas implemented. And speed is the name of the game in the CRO world that includes both website and app optimization. We know this is a tall order but we recruit nationally with a similar strategy for all positions and know this renaissance person is out there and we are confident we will find you!

Hello, my name is Kaitlin Reiss, Head of Ecommerce at Metabolic Living, and I need your help. Were a 100% remote $60MM+, self-funded, 9-year old company with 100+ teammates thats growing 100% YoY with a goal of being a billion-dollar brand by 2023. Weve hired the leader of our digital optimization team who has 3,200 split tests under his belt. And now were recruiting the remaining pieces of this world-class team as we get ready to launch two major strategic initiatives to introduce our new brand: our state-of-the-art e-commerce website and customized app that leverages machine learning and AI.

This role will have a heavy influence in how we both develop and market both of those assets. The funnest part is that we spend $2MM+ monthly in online ads now, scaling to $5MM by end of the year, so that heavy traffic flow allows us to ideate, execute and iterate hundreds of times per month with rapid learning. For those of you who are as obsessed with testing as I am, this is a dream-scenario to be in. I joined the company because I wanted to be part of building their new brand, to build something special, to build it the right way. And to do that we need the help of a world-class talent in this role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a creative, inquisitive and razor-sharp mindset whos oozing with ideas and obsessed with creating amazing user experiences that convert like crazy. You get annoyed when pixels arent perfect and when UXs and UIs dont make sense and scratch your head each time you purchase something personally on another website or and wonder why their checkout process is so inefficient! And the reason you chose to develop the whole enchilada package of UX/UI/CRO/design/dev skills is so that the amazing ideas bursting in your head could get implemented precisely the way you envisioned, without anybody else messing them up :-)!

Your days will be exciting and filled with variety one day you might be optimizing a quiz form in our performance funnels we use in our Google and Facebook ads another day you may be optimizing a checkout or upsell page our e-comm website another day you might be optimizing the onboarding experience in our customized app. Youre engaging with senior leadership to connect user experiences to company vision, analyzing data with our data scientists to detect success patterns and even talking to customers to gain deep insights into motivations, frustrations and barriers to success.

And heres the best part its all inside a truly meaningful mission we have at Metabolic Living: to make our metabolism-first lifestyle the worldwide standard for healthy living. Even without the current pandemic, people unnecessarily struggle with their health, confused by so many competing options that dont get results. So, weve developed a simple process anybody can follow to optimize their metabolism to deliver the energy their body needs to thrive. And weve created the full ecosystem of products to make that process as easy as possible (read more below). That means when your test ideas win, youve helped thousands of new people helped stop struggling and start thriving. That satisfaction is priceless and tremendously fulfilling as a human.

In spite of the crisis the world is in, were thriving, and in fact growing, because of the products we sell. The world was already coming to us, but the pandemic just poured rocket fuel on those trends. Our goal is to build a $1 billion dollar consumer brand by 2023 and this role will play an enormously important role in achieving that. Oh, did I mention that the company is 100% remote and always has been? This may be the opportunity you are looking for right now!

If you are a true Leonardo da Vinci of optimization equal parts artist and engineer LOVE every aspect of digital optimization, have an eye for clean and artful design, get very uncomfortable when something doesnt look or feel right, are addicted to the process of perfection and

  • You LOVE analyzing data and UXs and brainstorming new UI ideas to boost results
  • You LOVE meticulously tinkering with your designs until the look-and-feel is JUST right
  • You LOVE writing clean, efficient code that turns PSDs into pixel-perfect executions
  • You LOVE to think about your work (and not just do as told) to creatively solve problems
  • You LOVE to collaborate with other high performers to get things done the RIGHT way

Then please read on as youre the ideal candidate and wed love to talk to you ASAP.

What are the Key Points?

  • Compensation: $75,000 - $150,000 (includes bonus)
  • Location: 100% Remote (virtual team of 100+ with no corporate office)
  • Benefits: Full Insurance (health, dental & long-term disability) + Robust 401k
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m. 5:00 (preferably Eastern time but flexible for right candidate)
  • Culture: High-Performance but Humble (no jerks) that Creates Space for Deep Work
  • Personality: Obsessed with Details so We can Simplify the Complex for Others

IMPORTANT: Were serious about high-performance, so our culture is built around deep work to allow uninterrupted time for the intense concentration needed to deliver world-class performance. And this isnt just a corporate talking point weve implemented it with specific policies. For example, an 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. ET schedule to encourage being resourceful (instead of working 15 hours inefficiently), no meetings before 1 p.m. ET to allow for at least 4 hours of deep work. And no meetings at all on Fridays so you have dedicated time to think and plan strategically to ensure youre aligned on the right goals.

Who is This Opportunity Perfect for?

This is the perfect opportunity for a high-caliber UX/UI visual designer & front-end developer with at least 3 years experience doing hands-on optimization work both on e-commerce websites and apps, has an unstoppable inner drive for excellence and who might relate to any of these:

If youre drowning in the corporate or agency world, suffocating from lack of clarity, incessant scope creep, micromanaging bosses, endless meetings, constant interruptions and no respect for the quiet time you need to actually get work done, this is your opportunity to simplify and go deep to pour your heart and soul into ONE big opportunity and scale it like never before.

Or, if youve tried the freelance thing, but found it challenging or simply not fun doing the sales and marketing piece to land new clients so you could provide yourself or your family with a steady income, this is your opportunity find a long-term home with an organization who cares and who will constantly put fun, meaningful and challenging projects on your plate to keep things exciting and interesting.

Or, if youve been at a fast-growing start-up, but they havent turned the corner and learned how to grow without the stress, how to deliver results without working past 5 p.m., how to not burn the candle at both ends, how to create a profitable business model that doesnt depend on the whims of VC or PE world to provide the next round of funding this is your opportunity to take back control, live life under your own terms and design a lifestyle that brings you joy, happiness and satisfaction.

Regardless of your situation, whether you prefer to work in the quiet of your own home, sipping a delicious cup of coffee at your favorite coffee shop, or outside enjoying the sunshine on a bright, beautiful day AND you are a humble, high-performing individual who would THRIVE in this type of environment, then please read on, as we cant wait to meet you.

Who Are We and Whats the Companys Background?

Metabolic Livings mission is to empower people to thrive EVERY day so they can enjoy life to the fullest. And our vision is to do this by making our metabolism-first lifestyle become the worldwide standard for healthy living. Its a flexible, fun lifestyle thats 100% focused on delivering the results that matter: feeling your best, looking your best and performing your best. In the shortest time possible.

It puts YOU back in control. It helps YOU understand how your body and metabolism works. It empowers YOU to fix your own problems. And because it alleviates the frustration and confusion so many of us experience when trying to fix our health, it makes you want to tell the world about it.

Our goal is to grow into a billion-dollar multi-channel brand thats distributed via online, mobile and physical retail. For 10 years, weve been painstakingly building the products, services, framework, team and culture to make this happen. We have a robust, mature, complete and profitable business model with scalable customer acquisition. And now were pushing into a massive new growth phase.

Weve built a full ecosystem of products that allow someone to live a metabolism-first lifestyle. This includes exercise and nutrition programs, nutraceuticals, functional foods, memberships and coaching programs. Were launching our mobile app later this year, then will push into offline retail, extend into home-delivered meals and more. But ONE thing at a time, just like weve done for 9 years.

Our next major step is rolling out our new Metabolic Living brand and centralized e-commerce website at www.metabolicliving.com, scheduled to be live in early Q4 of 2020. We will consolidate into this centralized website our various product-branded microsites that have fueled our growth to date. The website you see there now is just a temporary one we did to be good humans to give away all of our workouts and recipes for free to help raise money for our front-line health workers.

And immediately after that well be rolling out the MVP of our true customization app one that dynamically assembles the perfect customized meals plan, workout, stress reduction, detoxification and musculoskeletal optimization plan for our audience based on our proprietary Metabolic OSTM model. And then in 2021, well be adding the machine learning and AI piece to leverage the biometrics streaming from todays wearables to dynamically optimize that plan based on how someones body is responding. Static plans are old and outdated true customization is whats needed to deliver results.

So why is a metabolism-first lifestyle needed? Because there are record amounts of sick, overweight, tired and depressed people piling up around the world. Were over-worked, over-stressed, over-fed and full of toxins. And were deprived of the sleep, nutrition, movement and relaxation we need to thrive.

Unfortunately, the typical solution of extreme dieting and exercise traps people into a 1-step-forward, 2-steps back vicious cycle that makes them worse off. They bounce from one latest flavor-of-the-month program to the next, never making progress trapped in a downward spiral of increasing desperation.

And philosophies like Paleo or Vegan, while extremely healthy for some, create a rigid us-vs-them tribal mentality thats self-limiting. Neither of those philosophies work for all people all the time or even the same person all the time. People differ. Bodies change. If thats not respected, things will backfire.

The answer? Instead of trying to FIND the perfect program, you need to CREATE their own one that respects how YOUR body works. And thats where our metabolism-first framework comes in.

It empowers you with a repeatable, customizable method to optimize your metabolism. Because weve found through working with millions of people that a fully optimized metabolism is what delivers the results everyone wants feeling their best, looking their best and performing their best, EVERY day.

So, instead of fighting against your body and getting inconsistent results with a one-size fits all program or protocol, we teach you to work with your body to enjoy consistent results by building your OWN perfect customized program. One thats practical, enjoyable and sustainable and starts working fast.

We believe in transparency, diversity, merit and fostering a culture of empowerment, personal impact and career growth. As one of our first front-end developers, your decisions will have an outsized influence on the future of our product.  You’ll take input from product, design, and customers and then you’ll collaborate with other experienced, passionate engineering team to build the frameworks and features that will support our customers now, and in the future.

Signs of a great candidate

  • Collaborative. You know that your colleagues’ perspectives will make our customers successful. Similarly, you use your strengths to help us grow together. You propose ways for us to be more engaged and successful with our customers.
  • Customer focused. Our customers are at the forefront of your day.  You prioritize our customers’ voice to ensure their needs are met.
  • Ambitious, curious, and resourceful. You are innately curious, and you aren’t afraid to work hard. You are self driven, you take direction well but are able to be creative to find results on your own when asked. You are driven to succeed because your hard work and results make you proud.
  • Disciplined and reliable.  We are a distributed company and you enjoy the benefits of working distributed while consistently delivering what you have committed to. When you hit a snag, you communicate and reset expectations early.
  • Appreciative of honest feedback.  You know that the best way to learn and grow is through constructive feedback delivered kindly. You view feedback given to you as an opportunity to get better and strive to do the same for others.
  • Work smarter and harder. You often identify a problem, create a solution and bring it to a state of completion - with others, or even on your own.  You find ways of eliminating or automating stuff that is uninteresting or wasteful.

Crisp's Frontend Tech Stack

  • Statically typed, modern languages. We use TypeScript and React for the UI, and GraphQL with Apollo to communicate with our backend.  Knowledge of these specific technologies is not a requirement. If you’re willing to learn, we’re willing to help you along the way.
  • Continuous deployment. Code is never far from being deployed to production, because if it’s not in production, it’s not solving problems in the real world. Our branch time spans are short, and features under development are hidden behind feature flags.
  • Micro-services. Not for the sake of the buzz, but when they make sense. By adopting a modern, thoughtful services architecture we’re able to scale organizationally, reduce technical debt, and maintain a high, sustained velocity.
  • Start-up mode.  The team is still small, and the product is fresh.  You’ll be able to exert a large amount of influence, and contribute to decisions that will determine the future of the product and the team.

We are building a team of developers with a breadth of combined experiences so that we can collaboratively build great products. There are no hard requirements on specific background, experience or geographical location. Instead we’re looking for individuals that are capable, reliable, and hoping to grow along with us. Do you have strengths you can share? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Senior Software Engineer
cs azure senior backend javascript html Dec 03 2019

Compensation: $110,000

Do you do your own dishes? We've got a job for you (and it's not dishwashing ;-) ).

Do you put them in the sink and expect someone else to do them? Move on, please.

Do you get pissed (in a professional way) when someone else leaves their dishes in the sink?  Please apply!

TrainerRoad is looking to expand our engineering group. We're looking for smart software engineers who "get things done." We’re interested in remote candidates in the USA or candidates interested in working in our Reno office.

Areas of work include ASP.NET MVC Backend, API, Workers, Micro Services, MS SQL Azure, Azure Queues/Tables, Azure Blob Storage, SignalR, and ASP.NET Core (on our roadmap), Azure monitoring and administration.

We're looking to hire: 1x Web Backend Developer

Web Development

You'd be joining other engineers who are focused on the backend of our website.

The backend team is the hub between our apps (iOS/Android/PC/Mac), front-end website and data storage. We have a massive amount of data, and it's very likely that you might queue up tens of millions of items to be processed quickly and efficiently.

You'll also manage integrations with external APIs. You'll need to do all of this while not breaking our current system.

Cool Things we Do

  • Every PR has a set of unit tests and automated UI tests run against it.
  • Every PR is code reviewed.
  • We have a dedicated QA team to manually check your PR (it requires four testers to sign off).
  • Every PR that is approved is automatically deployed (CI).
  • We've got a beta system that has a flow of production data that helps you develop and test your code without worry of breaking things.
  • Everything is hosted on Azure. There's plenty of dev/beta/test servers and databases to use.
  • The web team has its own Product Manager.
  • We run two-week sprints.  The web team reviews, estimates, and discusses all sprint issues before they are free to be worked.
  • We often pair program.
  • The majority of our engineers are remote.
  • We have a front-end team that works in Angular 2+ and React (meaning you won't have to do UI work).
  • We have a skilled design team that handles the HTML/LESS for the website (again, no UI work for you).

Who We're Looking For

We want smart engineers who get shit done! Not only do you have to be smart, you have to be pragmatic.

Let's say you need to paint a room white.

Smart and Pragmatic Engineer: A pragmatic engineer fills up a sprayer (rather than use a paintbrush), gets to work, and makes sure they don't paint themselves into a corner.

Smart Engineer (but not pragmatic): A smart engineer who's not pragmatic might design a system to change the color of the room in just 30 seconds.  Sure, it would take 2 months to build the system but we could change colors so quickly!  It's totally optimized for repainting!

If the second example sounds like you, please do not apply.  We know it's fun to go hog wild in projects but we need to "get shit done".  There's a whole line of other engineers and designers waiting for that room to get painted so they can do their own work on it.

We're a Team, not a Family

It sounds harsh to say, but we're not a Family. I know lots of businesses call themselves a family, but I think it's BS. If you get drunk at work and yell at someone, we're going to let you go (although we would give Grandma a pass at Thanksgiving).

It's better to think of TrainerRoad like a sports team. Everyone has their role and their jobs.  It's our jobs as managers to bring new hires up to speed, train them in our system, and coach them to be successful.

If someone is not performing, we need to talk to them, coach them, find out what's going wrong and where we can improve.  If someone just can't perform to the standard level of the team and we can't coach them to get better, we have to let that person go.

Another clear sign that you have a high-performance team is that if everyone would "enthusiastically rehire" each other for their current roles.  It really makes work wonderful when you respect, trust and value your co-workers.

Required Technology Experience

  • C# Experience - Intermediate to Advanced proficiency
  • Cloud Experience - Azure or AWS

Optional Technology Experience

  • ASP.net MVC
  • LINQ
  • Web API
  • Azure
  • SQL
  • Build/Test CI (We use TeamCity)

Work Remote or in Reno, Nevada

We're looking for the best candidate we can find in the US. Three-quarters of our development team work remotely. It works very well with the help of Slack and Github.

We expect remote employees to overlap at least 6 hours with the Reno, Nevada office (we're there 8am-5pm Pacific time).

Salary

We're looking to hire engineers for 110k/year.  If you ask for more, we'll reject your application. If you're interested in the company please subscribe to our RSS feed at jobs.trainerroad.com for when a higher level job posting is open.

Perks

Your Resume should have:

  • Links to any open source projects you've contributed to (not required)
  • Github/StackOverflow username if you'd like
  • Examples of experience in the "Optional Technology Experience" area

Your Cover Letter should have:

  • Let us know why you want to work for TrainerRoad

We also Require

The best engineers only want to work with other great engineers. We've found that the best way to find great engineers is to have them code, not just answer trivia questions during an interview.

That's why we require applications to do a refactoring exercise as part of their job submission. The right candidate won't find this a pain in the ass; it should be enjoyable.

This also weeds out the vast majority of candidates who just fire off resumes everywhere.

You can find the refactoring exercise with instructions here: https://github.com/trainerroad/BackendRefactorChallenge

Excited about our Company?

In your application let us know why you want to work with us and why you think you'd be a good fit for our company.

FAQs

Do I have to be a cyclist to apply?

Nope! Not everyone in the company is a cyclist. It helps if you're an active racer but it's not required. If you are a racer or TrainerRoad user, let us know!

What's unlimited vacation mean?

The CEO of TrainerRoad used to be an engineer at a Fortune 500 company where life was a grind. We believe employees put out their best work when they are happy and not burnt out.

If your brain just isn't working at 3 pm, we encourage employees to go home and rest up. It does no one any good to sit and stare at the computer screen for another two hours. We don't track that time.

Employees generally shoot for around four weeks of REAL vacation time (no slack checking) but some take more, and some take less.  The thing we care about is how productive you can be and how much value you can add to the company. Bottom line, we want people who are passionate and get things done. If you meet those requirements, everything else works itself out.

That being said, if you end up taking massive amounts of vacation, come in late, leave early and aren't producing outstanding work we're going to have a problem.

How do you work?

We're big believers in Deep Work and Flow. If you're not turning off Slack (snooze), going DND on your phone and shutting off the world for multiple hours a day you're probably not being as productive as you could be. The idea is a developer should be able to work on a chunk of work that they understand distraction-free for multiple hours totally.  This is the only way the company moves forward.

We try to work as pragmatically as we can.  We have excellent designers on staff who go from mockups to responsive HTML with light javascript work.

Development uses Github with a strict pull request process. We test, comment, refactor and improve each other's pull requests.

We have partial test coverage, and we're constantly improving in that area.

We have a QA team (we call them the Test Team) that checks every PR and does full regression checks for each App release, and we're continually getting more automated.

We have an Automation Team that only focuses on writing UI tests to speed up testing and find bugs faster.

We can one-click deploy our app on Alpha, Beta, and Production channels.

We can one-click deploy our website to Azure (includes smoke tests and warm up).

We have nightly builds that deploy to Test Flight and Google Play.

We often pair program via Slack.

We work off bi-weekly sprint issue lists on Github.

Developers get super-fast machines and awesome equipment. If it's going to let you be more productive, we want to spend the money on it.

You didn't ask about education, what's required?

Please put your education on your resume, but we're not going to reject someone because they don't have a degree in Computer Science. We understand that some of the best and most passionate engineers are self-taught.

How long until I hear a response from you guys? What's the process?

If you don't follow directions in this job posting, you'll be immediately rejected.

If you did follow directions, our goal is to review your refactoring within a week of submitting your application. All refactoring reviews are done "blind"; meaning the reviewer doesn't know your name, resume or where you're from.  Code is code, and it should be reviewed that way without bias.

If we like your refactoring, we'll have you do a coding logic quiz. Nothing super in-depth CS wise.  We've found that the candidates who do the best on these exercises are very successful at TrainerRoad.

We'll take the top combined refactoring and coding quiz results and set you up for a team interview.

If the team likes you; we'll then set up a pair programming session with you and an engineer.  We'll give you a tour of our codebase and work on a real issue. This gives you a chance to run away from our codebase screaming and also demonstrate that you can communicate with us.

If all of the above is good, you're hired!

I know this sounds like a lot of hoops to jump through, but it works so so well!  Once you're onboard, you'll love that everyone else went through the same process and is up to "your level" in terms of "get-shit-doneness".

What's with the dishes analogy?

Doing your own dishes is a GREAT analogy for our culture.  Don't leave shit around for someone else to clean up.  Do your own dishes.  Do you see someone making a mess? Let's discuss it (in a productive manner) so that we can nip that behavior in the bud.

We know we're really doing well when someone points out a manager not "doing their dishes" or causing an extra headache for a process that doesn't add value (it happens). Seriously, we need employees to call managers out on this.  I'm the CEO writing this; please oh please tell me if I'm messing up or not walking the talk.

Want more detail about the benefits?

You can see a preview of TrainerRoad's health benefits here: https://www.zenefits.com/benefits-preview/?token=3733c1ac-fc72-420a-b224-d9a25bcc1e27

This is the longest job posting ever, when does it end?

Right now! Congrats if you made it this far! We look forward to looking at your resume and refactoring exercise.

100% Remote: This role allows working remotely 100% of the time from anywhere in the US.  Workers must be authorized to work in the US (No Non US Applicants Please).

What We Do

The team at MapLarge builds cutting edge products for data analytics and visualization to make us safer, more productive, and more efficient.  The Maplarge API provides real time geospatial analytics for over 15 billion location events per day and trillions of historical events. Analysts using our geospatial visualization capability can instantly visualize and publish for data discovery and model testing on any desktop, mobile or tablet device.

Who We Need

Cultural Fit - While we hire all kinds of people and invent roles to fit them, there are three key traits we require of every team member that really define our team.

  1.  Fun to Work With - Life is short and work should be fun.

  2.  Extremely Smart - We work on cutting edge hard problems and we need people who can both architect and code these systems at the same time while working with a highly intelligent peer group.

  3. Passionate Engineers - We need people who really love programming and exhibit the energy and creativity that comes from being fully engaged in what you do.

Skills & Requirements

Types of Roles

We need talented people to help add cool new features to our platform.  Below are the general categories of tasks we are working on, but often people straddle multiple areas so take them more as the general "gist" of what you might do with us. We are looking for smart, hard working, fun people and we will invent the right role to fit them.  The key trait we are looking for is people who like to both architect/design and write the code for complex systems.

(1) Client Side - Interactive Visuals: We maintain a JavaScript API for for interactive Data Visualization using our high performance web services. We need people both to help add new dynamic animated UI components and other features to the JS API. We also need people to build data driven visuals for our demo gallery if you are artistically or data analysis inclined. Enjoy working with Knockout, Angular, D3.js, HTML5? Check our our galleries to see the kind of stuff you will be working on http://maplarge.com/demos

(2) Full Stack Web Services - Full stack developers who are comfortable working on both client and server side to produce high performance applications powered by scalable web services are the backbone of our team.  We run c# in both .net and mono server side and also maintain a flexible client side API with a large library of reusable components. We host and run large deployments that sometimes scale to thousands of computers for scientific/industrial/gov users and in a typical day process data over 15 billion records from 110 million streaming data sources.

(3) Algorithm / Core Database Development -  We built our own in memory database and distributed data analytics pipeline from the ground up with funding from DARPA, and we have a team of really talented researchers working on Pattern analysis, Streaming analytics, Spatial queries and Network graph functions that power our visual engines. We are always looking for practical people who love writing highly optimized code that straddles the line between research and software development. We don't usually publish scientific papers, but we are right out on the edge pulling algorithms out of the latest research papers finding really fast "good enough" approaches that let us tease interesting patterns out of data without getting lost in "science experiment land"

Requirements:

  • US Person based anywhere in the US (100% remote allowed but no off shore)
  • 5 Years work experience as a programmer
  • Highly Comfortable with C# and Visual Studio
  • Experienced with Web Development & JavaScript

  • We are open-minded but things need to be moving forward.
  • We say what we have to. So expect to hear some unpleasant - but true - things sometimes. Don't hesitate to argue back - with respect - if you disagree.
  • Like any startup, It can be a mess some days. You also will likely have to do things that aren't in your scope sometimes. Part of the fun, right? ;)

Principal Software Engineer
Kyruus
python aws api ui design Nov 14 2019

First and foremost, Kyruuvians care deeply about our vision to enable human beings to care for human beings, our mission, and our CORE values:

  • Caring – We care about our clients, their patients, and each other.
  • Ownership – We own our success and have the courage to make decisions.
  • Respect – We respect and enjoy each other's journey, experiences, and gifts.
  • Empowerment – We empower our team, our clients, their providers and patients to make the right decisions.

About Kyruus's Search Team

Kyruus has a mission to solve the patient access paradox by making sure to match patients to the right provider (e.g. doctor) the first time. One of the main catalysts for this paradox is that the variety of data that represents a provider is not straight forward nor in one place. The time spent by patients combing through that information on their own can lead to added time in finding the right care.

On the KyruusOne team, we work hard to minimize mistakes when it comes to getting the data you need. This all starts with rich data sets of provider information that need to be canonicalized, normalized, and transformed into a warehouse that is accessible to all our applications. The team is a collaborative group of software engineers that tackle: provider data models, scalable APIs, intuitive workflows in the UI while tying together the different aspects of data management like bulk editing, canonicalization, and large datasets.

Join this team to work on the most central part of our applications. Be involved in cross-team discussions as we grow and scale our applications and help design the future of healthcare.

Here’s what that would mean for you in the Principal Software Engineer role on the Search Team.

Caring

You’ll design and write code (lots!) spanning several components to make progress toward assigned tasks on product roadmap and/or planned customer commitments.

Ownership

Product Owner to Transform the Shipping Industry

Container Shipping: An industry with huge potential to make a difference

90% of all goods globally are transported through a container. The largest container vessels are 400 meters long and can transport 20,000 containers at a time. The container shipping industry is the backbone and enabler of global trade, but it is struggling. At its core the industry is fundamentally inefficient: 50% of all container vessels globally are delayed coming into port, and key planning processes are done manually on a global scale. This leads to high operational costs, lost revenue, and unnecessarily high greenhouse gas emissions. At Portchain, we work with our customers to reduce operational complexity and optimize planning through software and cutting-edge analytics.

The role

Our products use data, mathematical modelling, machine learning, and optimization to help our users get full transparency on their operations and make better decisions. We are looking for a talented Product Owner to join our team and lead one of our two products.

As the Product Owner you will work closely with the Chief Product Officer, Head of Engineering, developers, data scientists, design, quality assurance, Head of Customers, and naturally our users to lead and ensure that the right features are built into our products, are robust and reliable for use in 24/7 live operations.

Portchain is an exciting fast-growth company where you will work with an incredible team on applications with a truly global impact.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Define product vision, road-map and growth opportunities
  • Lead the design, specifications and implementation of end-to-end features, through agile sprints
  • Engage with users and key stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis primarily  to collect feedback
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Lead the planning product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities. Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on
  • Ensure the application development is high quality

Role Requirements

  • 3 years minimum of professional experience as a software product owner
  • Demonstrated excellent knowledge of technology, analytics and UX/UI across several domains
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions to develop simple solutions to complex planning tasks
  • Strong collaboration mindset, working with the commercial team, engineering, design and analytics to gather perspectives, weigh solution options, and make a fact based decision swiftly and efficiently
  • Strong client skills being able to work and communicate with everyone from the COO to the daily planners in customer organizations
  • A deep understanding that we always have to navigate between the immediate impact of a feature and the technical debt incurred by its implementation. You are able to carefully weigh the pros and cons and make a choice in favour of the company and the team
  • Comfortable with rapid changes common in early-stage product development
  • Energized by complex problem solving and ability to think out of the box

Android Engineer - Payment Team
Heetch
android java backend ui api design Nov 12 2019

Read before applying:

We're a young company iterating over our remote culture so for now, we're only working with people in locations where the time zone is: -3 hours > Paris time zone < +3 hours

Payment Team @Heetch

The Payment Team works behind the scenes to ensure a smooth experience for everyone involved in payment transactions. We are responsible for the proper handling of millions of euros across thousands of daily rides , and everyone is counting on us to deliver reliably and efficiently. We work hand in hand with the Data, Product and Operations teams to improve our product while protecting our bankrolls and maintaining compliance and cleanliness in our accounting records:

  • Numbers, numbers everywhere.
  • We help users manage their payment methods and coupons, a crucial part of the passenger on-boarding experience.
  • We make sure drivers get paid on time for their work by providing them with a seamless experience so they don’t have to worry about their money.
  • Fraudsters are like zombies, one breach, and you’ll face an army of them.
  • 1 cent can become over 9000 cents if you don’t pay attention.

Android within Payment Team

As a mobile developer, your job will be to work on the interfaces, for example, to help passengers managing their payment methods/coupons or drivers understanding how much they earn on the platform. You want to make sure people can know what's going on with their money

Our team's values

  • Transparency: We discuss everything openly within the team. Our speak up culture is strong.
  • Remote first: Our team is fully distributed, and we work hard at that, but feel free to work from any of our offices in Paris, London, Brussels or Casablanca.
  • The courage to fail: We celebrate the wins, but more importantly we're not afraid to fail, we always learn and go again.
  • Team Unity: No one is left behind.
  • Code quality: It's not software without tests.

Does it sound like you?

  • You have more than 5 years of experience in Android development and you still like it.
  • Thanks to your advanced knowledge of Rx, you can write complete use cases with flatMaps, concats, zips and are not afraid to jump from one scheduler to another.
  • Though you could write a book about Java, you now only want to deal with data/sealed classes, extension functions and know the difference between apply/with/also/run/let.
  • You know enough about Fragments, Activities, savedInstanceStates & Parcelables to know what you want to work with on your next project, and what you sincerely want to see burn.
  • You're in love with ConstraintLayout, can make art out of Canvas and build custom views when the framework is just not enough.
  • You know the difference between unit & automated tests, can write Rx-oriented test cases without wanting to die and know how to get everything running on a CI platform while you sleep.
  • You know when to use api or implementation in your gradle files and are not afraid of multi-modules projects.
  • If you have contributed to open source projects, it would be a plus.
  • If you have experience with background services, unreliable network conditions & location updates, we'd love it.
  • If you know what kills the phone's battery and how to help mitigate the issue, we'd enjoy knowing more about it too.

What will you do?

  • Work closely with Product, Backend and Data Analysts to build highly impactful features
  • Work in a release train cycle (we ship often )
  • Optimise performance and help solve technical and product problems for our large pool of Android drivers
  • Participate in Code Reviews and provide feedback to your colleagues
  • Have the freedom to experiment. Intrigued in new tech or library? Go for it! let's see how it improves our app
  • Be a key member of the wider Android team at Heetch and contribute to core architecture and design discussions
  • Work on large cross-team projects
  • Routinely own and manage releases to the Play store

What are going to be your main challenges?

Our app is one, of the few mobile apps, running in the foreground for up to seven hours straight on drivers phones. This rather unique use case brings fun challenges with handling the lifecycle of the app.

  • Network and GPS management: We need to provide accurate information and price suggestions to our community. This means making sure every driver gets important notifications in any network conditions, providing GPS location as accurate as possible for the pricing and tracking.
  • UI & UX: Ride-sharing apps are a really special case in app design. They all revolve around a map and the conventional navigation patterns like list view and navigation controls need heavy tweaking to make for great user experience.
  • One way data flow and functional pattern: We are passionate about software architecture. We've built the core of our apps using Rx and want to push this forward in both the data and the UI layers. Ideally, our team will grow big enough to be able to push forward what mobile programming means and we'll contribute back to all those amazing open source projects we learned from.

What's next?

If your application is selected, the process will be composed of 4 steps:

  1. Non-technical interview with the Engineering Manager of your potential team (1h30)

  2. Take home assignment (~5 days deadline)

  3. Interview with your future teammates (1h)

  4. Day on site (Paris) to meet your future stakeholders

Luna

Senior Graphics Developer

Luna is looking for a senior graphics developer to take charge of the design, development, and evolution of a new WebGL-based GUI for Luna, a project said by Singularity University to have the potential to change the lives of one-billion people. If you bring strong technical skills and a passion for performance, this could be the role for you.

As a senior graphics developer you'll be a key part of bringing the vision for Luna 2.0 into reality, with your work being integral to the realisation of the next iteration of Luna. You'll be able to collaborate with world-class team of skilled engineers, community managers, and business developers (from Bloomberg, PayPal, and GitHub to name a few), and make your indelible mark on the future of Luna.

What You'll Do

As a senior graphics developer, you'll be responsible for designing and building a high-performance renderer based on web technologies for use in the Luna IDE: Luna Studio. This will involve:

  • Working closely with stakeholders and customers to design the new GUI for Luna Studio.
  • Developing a design for the new renderer that will be used to implement this GUI.
  • Implementing the new renderer in a high-performance manner on top of WebGL and Rust (via Web Assembly).
  • Building a next-generation UI framework using this renderer for use in Luna Studio.
  • Using this UI framework to build the new GUI for Luna Studio itself.
  • Debug performance issues to ensure that the renderer is capable of achieving high performance even on low-powered hardware.
  • Creating visualisations for data science libraries using the renderer and D3.js.

The Skills We're Looking For

We have a few particular skills that we're looking for in this role:

  • A strong focus on both user experience and aesthetics.
  • 3+ years experience with WebGL (or OpenGL).
  • A deep understanding of graphics abstractions including: VAOs, FBOs, PBOs, buffer types, and asynchronous computation modes.
  • A deep understanding of GPU techniques including: efficient buffer management, efficient GLSL construction, high-performance vector and font rendering, post-processing, 3D scene description (with nested objects), lights, cameras, and animation.
  • 2+ years experience with Rust, including experience writing unsafe code for FFI and performance, and using the macro system for metaprogramming. You should be able to write idiomatic rust code.
  • Practical experience building high-performance graphical interfaces for end-user-facing applications.

As part of the hiring process for this job posting we're very interested in your previous work in these areas. Please link us to your Rust projects, blog posts and shadertoy shaders if you have them! It's important for us to understand your experience at the start of the hiring process.

It would be a big bonus if you had:

  • Experience with Rust's WASM toolchain, with wasm-bindgen, and experience with WASM itself.
  • Experience with visual programming systems such as Houdini, Max/MSP, Lab VIEW, or Touch Designer.
  • Knowledge of the runtime and memory models used by various JavaScript virtual machines.
  • Knowledge of D3.js, and experience using it to visualise data.

Avoid the confidence gap. You don't have to match all of the skills above to apply!

Who You'll Work With

You'll be joining a distributed, multi-disciplinary team that includes people with skills spanning from compiler development to data-science. Though you'll have your area to work on, our internal culture is one of collaboration and communication, and input is always welcomed.

We firmly believe that only by working together, rather than putting our team members in their own boxes, can we create the best version of Luna that can be.

The Details

As part of the Luna team you'd be able to work from anywhere, whether that be at home, or on the go! We have team members distributed across the world, from San Francisco, to London, to Kraków. We welcome remote work and flexible schedules, or you can work from the Kraków office (or our planned SF office) if you'd like. We can provide competitive compensation and holiday, as well as the possibility of equity as time goes on.

How To Apply?

Send us an email at jobs@luna-lang.org, and tell us a little bit about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit for the role! You can also tell us about:

  • Some of your past work or projects.
  • Why you'd like to work on Luna, and where you imagine Luna being in 5 years.
  • The most important features of a team that you'd like to work in.
  • Whether you take pride in your ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with your team.

Remote details

Employer's note:We're looking for someone in the DC to Richmond, VA area-ish; however, we could live with the NE corridor-ish. More in the posting.

Technologies

angularjs ruby vue.js react angular

Job description

Are you a versatile developer (frontend and backend) with a touch of UX designer who is obsessive about creating thoughtful software that improves someone’s day? If so, we’d love to chat with you about adding some firepower to our senior product team -- a team who is actively helping women’s health providers spend more quality time with patients by fundamentally re-imagining their daily digital workflows.

***
Update on 'Location' : So, while we do have the 'remote' flag on, we're *ideally* looking for someone in the Richmond, VA area-ish (think: 2 hour train ride, so DC to Raleigh to Charlottesville); however, we could live with the NE corridor-ish (think: <2 hour flight; our VP Engineering is near Boston), too. Our CEO works in an office in Arlington, VA, if you want to keep him company. Or, put another way: are you available to be in the Richmond, VA virtual office once every month-ish? Yeah, That'd be greaaaaaat... Don't forget the cover page on those TPS reports either.
****

Ideally you are as eager and passionate as we are about:

  • Crafting thoughtful user experiences that help people (in our case doctors, nurses, and medical assistants) make the best decisions possible while removing tedious BS from their daily workflow.

  • reducing the large amount of time that clinicians spend on documenting what they have already done (go ahead -- ask your doctor about how much they like their EHR (electronic health record) next time you’re sick)

  • re-imagining not only the traditional user experiences & workflow of EHRs, but also the medium through which the latest medical best practices can be actionably and seamlessly incorporated into delivering care.

OK, you may not be super-passionate about these things right now (let’s face it -- medical workflows and “EHRs” sound pretty boring on paper), but you will be. Why? Because you’ll be building software that fixes INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING experiences for doctors.  And it’s incredibly satisfying to modernize, replace & improve outdated, problematic software.  It’s important. And you’ll be loved/adored for it.  (And once you see the way this stuff is currently done, you’ll be left scratching your head or otherwise disappointed)

A little about us...

We’re a small-but-mighty with funding and a strategic partnership with the most influential voice in women’s health: the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG).

Our mission is to remove the digital roadblocks that interfere with healthcare providers’ ability to spend quality time with patients (Oh, and we try to help them make better decisions along the way as well).

...A Lot About You

Ideally, you are a multitalented wunderkind who runs circles around each of the below bullet points, but let’s be real: while some of these are must-have, many are wish-list.  We may have gotten a bit carried away with these, so if feel your unique combination of skills is close-ish to the mark, don’t hesitate to reach out. In fact, do so enthusiastically.

  • ...you’re a software craftsperson with a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality -- there’s a lot of thoughtful, nuanced, nitty gritty work to get done.
  • … you have “X years of experience”  Pshaw. We aren’t big on formal requirements in the credentials department; rather, we want to see what you’ve worked on.  Show us a project you’re proud of that you shipped and we’ll start the conversation from there. But let’s not kid ourselves -- you should absolutely come without training wheels.
  • ... you are comfortable shifting gears between front-end Javascript and back-end Ruby-on-Rails when you need to… We have some folks who are stronger on the front end and some folks who are stronger on the back end.  Our ideal is someone who has excellent design sensibilities and a firm grasp of HTML5 / CSS / SASS, ui toolkits like bootstrap, but also can talk about and implement good APIs to talk to the front end and also write code to connect to other APIs from our backend.
  • … you’re pretty opinionated about your design choices and can easily articulate/defend your design decisions/rationale when asked “Why did you <insert observation that challenges your design choice>?”
  • … you have solid AngularJS front-end development chops.  But, because you love javascript frameworks in general, you’ve played around with -- and probably are opinionated about -- other frameworks like Angular(7), React, and Vue.js.

  • ... you have solid Ruby on Rails development jobs.,  Or, because you love software development in general, you're not worried about picking it up because you have other back-end experience that translates.
  • ...you should be able to design, architect & implement solutions that reflect your particular problem-solving approach (...and you’ll probably be solving a problem that was based on a story that you yourself were instrumental in either eliciting or refining).

  • … you’re a natural Design Thinker.  Therefore, you’re good at leveraging your empathy to investigate both known and ambiguous aspects of a complex, convoluted story (lots of these in healthcare!) in order to discover hidden parameters and open alternative paths which may lead to the real story.
  • …  you have an admirable understanding of the principles behind a good* RESTful API design.  (*But also know enough to not let perfect get in the way of the good)

  • … you’re comfortable/knowledgeable with git.  CI experience a bonus, but not required.

  • … you’ve worked at startups before or have always been looking for an excuse to.

  • … you work well in a loosely structured PM/Managerial environment (we’re agile with a “little a”)

Us + You?

As the newest member our product team, you’ll be an integral part of every aspect of our business strategy, dev roadmap, technology architecture decisions, and, undoubtedly, will wear a lot of hats.

Ones of these hats -- in addition to your techie/design hats -- will almost certainly be the Customer Hat. At Dorsata, we are fervent (rabidly obsessive, really) believers in frequent, high-touch interactions with our involved, loyal customer base, who drives our roadmap.  As we've grown, developers are often removed from the day-to-day, but you should be the type of person who is able to empathize and ask good questions of customers.

Obligatory message:  If you're a third-party recruiter who is looking to send us resumes, please don't. We don't accept resumes from third-party recruiters. No, we're not interested in how Yet Another Recruiting company can help us make the world a better place, etc.; we already know good people who do that when we need to. (We're amazed at the number of random LinkedIn messages from recruiters we see, both on the hiring and job seeking side. Yes, you're great human beings, but please move along.)

About Dorsata

Dorsata’s clinical workflow intelligence platform is designed to work both top of and inside of the existing electronic health records (EHRs) that our customers use. The ACOG Prenatal Record -- our flagship product for the Dorsata platform -- is an AngularJS/Rails SPA designed collaboratively with women’s health providers to support the way that they work & think -- not tell them how to work & think (or add additional clerical burdens to their already-busy day). We want practitioners of women’s health to feel like they are using a piece of software not only designed for them, but by them.

More About Us :

How We Interview & Hire

Like many of the other startups you are currently perusing on stackoverflow/angellist/hired/vettery/reddit/linkedIn/etc., our interview process begins with an intro call to help you learn more about the role, for us to hear more about you, and to help the two of us decide if Dorsata is a mutual fit. If we move forward, the next step will be a more in depth call with us that dives into some problem solving about healthcare.  Based on that problem solving exercise, we do a quick real-world based coding test to make sure you actually do know AngularJS (or React or Vue or AngularX) / what a computer is.

We're small, so we also like to have people talk to our CEO.

Benefits / Perks / Comp

Lead Application Developer / Technical Project Manager
cs api aws javascript senior ui Oct 31 2019

100% Remote: This role allows working remotely 100% of the time from anywhere in the US.  Workers must be authorized to work in the US (No Non US Applicants Please).

Who We Need: We are looking for experienced senior software developers to act as lead application developers helping to design and build applications for customers on top of the MapLarge product suite.  Applicants should have a strong history as a lead software developer (no non-technical project managers, please) and should be a top notch C# and JavaScript programmer. We are looking for sophisticated team members who are passionate about not only how UI is used, but also how the APIs, ontology, data structures, documentation, and examples come together to make both the UI components and technical APIs a pleasure for customers to use.

Typical Tasks: Typical Tasks include both writing code and leading planning activities.  You will often be acting as the lead technical point of contact on customer engagements, running internal and external planning meetings, helping to wireframe user interfaces, creating specs for the public facing APIs that drive them, doing deep dive code reviews with developers, and writing code for key portions of the deployed application.

Skills: While we hire all kinds of people and invent roles to fit them, these are the key traits we prefer for this role:

  1. Smart & High Energy Engineer - We work at a very fast pace on cutting edge hard problems and we need people who can keep up.   We need people who really love producing results for customers and who enjoy programming and exhibit the energy and creativity that comes from being fully engaged in the technical side of what we do.

  2. Strong Software Development background - This job is definitely NOT for non technical project managers. Recent, hands-on experience coding both server side (C#) and client side (JavaScript) are strongly suggested, and 5+ years work experience as a professional programmer is required.

  3. Experience Wireframing UI & Designing APIs - You do not have to have strong artistic skills, but you should be comfortable not only spec-ing out UI wireframes but also designing the supporting technical web service API’s and/or client side component API’s.

  4. Technical Project Management:  You should be highly organized with a strong history in either technical project management or as the lead developer for complex software development projects.

  5. Customer Facing: comfortable meeting with sophisticated customers and managing expectations on large high value projects.
