Senior Full stack Developer to take Lead on Web app
Pasion
full stack senior wordpress lamp frontend backend Feb 06
  • Location: 100% Remote (the team is based in Uruguay, Argentina and Colombia)
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Hours: 20 to 30 hours a week, according to your expertise and availability.
  • Salary: Appropriate to the level of experience. Negotiable to your expectations.
Our company

We are a small company—9 people—who focuses on providing online solutions for sex workers. We strive to give them platforms and tools to help them stay independent so they can reach their goals much sooner (and hopefully retire, if that’s their wish).

Our web app (LAMP) is working on 2 countries serving 1.400 customers and 600.000 visitors. We are working on enlarging the team to open 4 more countries by 2020 first quarter.

The company is self-funded, we have been in the market for five years now and we’ve been profitable all the way. This is the result of passion for web development and care for our customers.

Project

The project consists mainly on a custom made (PHP/JS) social network, using WordPress as the core for content management. Customers are able to create and manage accounts like they would on a site like Instagram.

Plus a few other extra functionalities, not only for customers but for customer service and admins as well.

Scope

While there are a lot of front end needs, most of the work will happen on the back end and private administrative sections.

The system is broken down into 18 modules, each as its own WordPress plugin.

We also rely on third party plugins for things such as image optimization, load speed and performance, cronjob handling, and the likes.

Our own theme handles mostly page templates and CSS.

The system is highly configurable and ready to be installed on different countries with different use cases.

We also have integrations with third parties for SMS notifications, and payment processing.

Developer Job Responsibilities

You will be taking the lead developer role in our company to replace our founder (me).

Besides keeping and eye over everything you’ll be improving existing features as well as creating new ones from start to finish.

You’ll also be helping us professionalizing things. The code is not the best, some things are rushed or patched. There isn’t any documentation explaining how the system works or which function does what. With time this may even result in re-designing and re-writing big chunks of code.

Expect to be spending some time learning how things work (of course you will have guidance along the way).

When the work load deserves it, we can talk about hiring junior devs to work with you.

Developer Job Duties

  • The position requires constant communication with colleagues.
  • Expertise and hands on experience with software development is needed to be successful in this position
  • Must be willing to learn LAMP and WordPress.
  • Strong grasp of CSS3.
  • Regular exposure to company management, as well as the authority and scope to apply your expertise to many interesting technical problems.
Your application

This is one of the most important roles in our company. If you’re ready to handle the responsibility and you’re passionate about building platforms for people to use, we’re waiting for you!

Summary or cover letter

Please lead with a couple sentences introducing yourself.

Explain why you want the role, why are you applying for it?

Go through each requirement and explain how you meet the requirement.

Please don’t list every technology you have ever come across, instead list the specific skills that apply to this job

The technologies you have used should be incorporated into the summary and career history as long as it’s relevant.

Github, Bitbucket and StackOverflow accounts

If you have a Github/Bitbucket/Stackoverflow account then please list it. If you contribute to open source projects, please add them. If you have an online presence that in any way supports the role you are applying for, please make sure it’s listed.

App store links or Websites you have worked on

If you have worked on mobile apps and they are any the app store, make sure you include the links to them. If you have worked on websites, include the URL’s. Don’t just include the links, add the specifics of exactly what you did on each project as described below.

Specific development work you actually did

Details matter. Let us know about the development work you actually did during each particular project or role.

  • What were you responsible for?
  • What technologies did you use and for what purpose?
  • Where you part of a team? Did you lead the team?
  • What did you learn most from the role?

Section for personal interests

Listing your interests outside of work helps to flesh you out as a real person.

We are also looking for someone who will enjoy working with us and enjoy taking the platform world wide.

There’s hundreds of thousands of sex workers out there that deserve the chance to manage their job (and their money!) on their own terms, and not what someone else dictates for them. Let’s help them out : )

This Year

React/Node Developer
react-js firebase sass next.js javascript css Jan 10

Are you a kick-ass javascript developer tired of rushing through client work, instead yearning to dive deeper into a smaller number of projects? Do animations, interactions, and user experiences delight you? Are you disciplined enough to work in sprints, but also mature enough to work independently?

Undefined LLC is hiring a full-time React / Node developer to work on customer-facing and internal websites and web applications. Say goodbye to the agency or freelance rat race - you’ll be working exclusively on a small number of company-led projects and initiatives.

Our Projects

So what types of projects will you be working on?

  • A custom e-commerce site built in React and Next, powered on the back-end by Firebase and WordPress
  • A custom admin dashboard for a native app with more than 250,000 user accounts and 5,000 daily users, built in React and Next, and powered by Firebase
  • A shopify e-commerce site with a custom theme built on Shopify’s themekit and React
  • An app microsite built in React and Next, powered by Firebase
  • Various landing pages and microsites generally built in React and Next, powered by Firebase and/or WordPress as a CMS
  • Internal reporting and communication tools that may need some FED love

The Daily Grind

What’s a typical day for an Undefined developer? We work in sprints; so, you’ll be in daily communication with your dev team members and leadership. But we also work like animals; so, you’ll be free to focus on getting your work done. Your week will begin with a Sprint Planning Meeting, you’ll have daily stand-ups during the week, and it will end on Friday with a Sprint Review.

Though most of your time during the week will be working on tasks and bugs, you’ll have the opportunity to step up regularly (if that’s your thing) and be involved in higher-level design and direction decisions. We say “if that’s your thing” because some people love that, others don’t. And we want you focused mostly on what you love.

But What Am I Really Doing?

Sometimes, you’ll have an entire Sketch design and you’ll be building out the FED. Other times, you’ll have the basic design requirements (fonts, colors, etc) and some functionality requirements (credit card form, shipping address), and you’ll design and build the page or component in browser. Or maybe you're writing a script to traverse Firestore to pull some data.

Hey - we just added some new functionality to how subscriptions are set up or we’re building out the functionality to export customer lists from our admin portal. You’ll FED those components, and also bug fix them should something break or not work as expected.

Our Tech Stack

You must know React and Firebase. We use React heavily in our front end development. You must also be great - not good, great - with CSS, SCSS, or some similar styling. We currently use SCSS modules in React, so you should be comfortable with SCSS even if you want to convince us that something better exists.

You must also have a great - not good, great - eye for CSS animations, timings, transitions...everything animated in the browser. If we (or you) get a crazy idea to animate a user interaction or drop in a little delighter, you’ll be the one to pull it off.

Experience with WordPress and/or Shopify is a plus.

What You Need To Qualify

This is a full-time position or contract-to-hire position depending on your situation and needs. To qualify:

  • Must be a US citizen or resident alien
  • Proven work experience as a FED with React
  • Proficiency working in git and terminal
  • A portfolio and/or repo of actual work experience

How To Apply

Send us your details - we need to see your work and resume or similar doc. We’ll reach out to qualified candidates via email to ask some questions or for a phone conversation.

Elastic
python saas cloud wordpress azure design Nov 04 2019

At Elastic, we have a simple goal: to solve the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to Twitter streams, Apache logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. About The Role

You will be responsible for technical design and work in the Billing area of Elastic’s Cloud product. This area is responsible for services that power Elastic’s SaaS subscription billing platform. This role is very impactful to Elastic -- you will collaborate with partners from Finance, Sales Operations, and IT teams to provide end-to-end billing and invoicing capabilities for our users. You will lead by example and should participate in coding, debugging complex failure scenarios, and triaging bugs. You’ll analyze the current system, participate in roadmap and project planning efforts, and will have ownership for delivering it. You’ll be participating in project management efforts as the teams execute on plans, and you’ll have a role in communicating progress and status to partners.

Engineering a highly complex distributed system that is easy to operate via elegantly designed components and APIs is a non-trivial effort. It requires solid software development skills, and more importantly, a sharp mind and the ability to think like a user. We also care deeply about giving you full ownership of what you’re working on. • Own, curate, and execute your area's product roadmap, partnering with product managers, engineering managers, and other peers across Cloud and Elastic teams.
  • Understand our company strategy and help to translate it into technical deliverables and guide Cloud’s product direction to realize it.
  • Create technical designs and build POCs for new efforts, validating a wild idea works before committing to it.
  • Be a contact point in Cloud for other teams within Elastic. Examples include helping Support with difficult cases or consulting with the Sales Operations and IT teams to improve our end to end billing and reporting flow.
  • Be hands-on with the codebase. Review work done by the team, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Help the team define coding practices and standards.

What you will bring along

  • Proven experience as a software engineer, with a track record of delivering high-quality code.
  • Experience with Python as a programming language.

  • Previous experience in an ownership role for roadmap curation and execution.
  • Experience gathering or analyzing usage data from hosting providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) is a huge plus.
